A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

If you have a new faction in your expansion source system at about 4 - 5% influence, that's your first clue on where to look.
We do, and we didn't expand to that system. My guess is its a faction that was transplanted from its home from a previous expansion, and therefore could have come from anywhere.

Commencing systematic search....

Yep, sounds like you're on the right track. Also confirms that the expansion definitely happened. Good luck in your search. Hopefully the game of faction musical chairs is only a few systems deep.

One of our other members got results similar to yours regarding fines. Small drops for the faction with jurisdiction, but the BGS seems to largely ignore the number / value / volume of the fines. Like dunnykin says though, it's small and can be inconsistent, just indicating that it's easily overshadowed. Further testing is planned, but we're not anticipating this to be an effective method for moving influence or buckets.

to add to it, the registering of fines is very buggy. you can get a fine in the hud, without registering it left hand panel - and you can have it registered left hand, and the next time you log in, the value shown is lowered (without any action...).

AS opposed to any system within 30LY!

20LY expansion radius? Yeah... right.
pretty much.

revised my search, instead of looking around my system, I went to the origin system of our new faction, and looked around where the 30ly expansion bubble of both systems might intersect.. I found our expansion system 23.6 ly away, and already firmly in the grip of the Diamond Frogs. *sigh* Better luck next time.

Keep at it, you might have kiss a few frogs before you find a real diamond.

Does anyone know of anything that might stop Expansion from becoming PENDING ... not active but PENDING?

Assuming the faction controls the system then the following will block expansion from going pending:

1) Conflict states (pending, active, or recovering) in any other system.
2) Being below 75% influence.

That's all, quite simple :)

Thanks. Its my election thats preventing it then in another system. Didn't think it would stop it from going pending but alas lol.
Cheers.

(Sorry for my english)
I do not agree with the 2) point.
Some days ago, we had an expansion at 70 % when it trigger (after the countodown period).
I think when an expansion goes into pending state, it will be trigger whatever happens.:)

Quite correct, but my question was what was stopping it from going pending, and being below 75% will which is what his 2nd statement says. As you say, once pending you can drop below 75% and it will still trigger.

Its all in the english :)

The expansion went into "pending" when your faction was at 75%. If your influence drops, it seems that the expansion goes ahead anyway.

I have a short question for the BGS experts: I came across a CZ today where an independent Faction was using the Fed Ships, All the 3 dropships and the Corvette. Now I'm wondering if this is something that can happen or is it a bug that I should report?
