Great update! Excellent job FD!
Fleshed with no bone maybe. The game feels more fleshed out, finally. Very happy with this update thus far!
Eh, a problem with a major version upgrade to a network application that can be resolved in less than a couple of hours is actually pretty small. Big problems with such an upgrade can take several hours to fix.
In my industry, we typically pad our estimates of downtime for major rollouts by 10 to 20% to account for the unexpected. But I guess it's hard to do that in an industry where the customers so frequently have no understanding of the degree of work involved in such operations and scream about every moment of scheduled downtime.
Seems reasonable to expect large, high-traffic network game server software to be similar in that regard
Just want to add, I'm not whining at FD nor do I hold them at fault for any network issues I'm experiencing. I think they are doing a fantastic job.
I'm just super keen to dig into the update and the slowdown is prolonging that. That's all.
Hahahaha! That's the spirit!! But indeed 2.1 is the most polished release ever imho. And the stuff Mr. Braven was talking during yesterday's livestream??? Modular variety of the spacestations to come (with multiple letterbox slots), more than one alien races, volcanic and other kind of landable planets pretty soon (very interesting ideas about scoopable gas giants, where we should be able to dive in the gas "holes" to scoop heavier gases) and new ships (Mr. Braben was shown those already by its team), its all just "WHOOOOOOOOAAAAA!!!! Best game of this century!!!!!!!!!"Got it done, and had 30min to play before work. Jumped into a high intensity combat zone in my Aspec vulture and lasted about 3 minutes with zero kills - twice haha. Love it!
I'm about 2mil poorer but had so much fun. So intense.
Hey Frontier guys, the Patch note that reads "- Provide a graphics option to adjust UI scale in VR with a maximum and default of 0.7 for Vive and 1.0 for Oculus" is incorrect as this is still not in the options menu. Can you please remove it from the OP so as not to get Vive user's hopes up?
+1 Same here, but I jumped into a low intensity zone in my tricked-out Python (in Solo), lasted less than a minute, was jumped by 5 ships as soon as I activated my weapons and targeted an eagle, never got a shot off as I saw my (double boosted) shields boil off in seconds. Tried to boost away but they disabled my thrusters and left me dead in space. Another 20 seconds and my (reinforced) hull was gone. Kerpow!Got it done, and had 30min to play before work. OK now that 2.1 is finally released we can start talking about 2.2![]()
Noooo, spent 2 hours and most of what was left of my download quota updating, and then get a network error and something about a response stream. Too much network traffic I guess?
Looks like I wont be playing 2.1 today![]()
I heard that the passengers will be in 2.2
