Travelled 43 jumps to an engineer.
Engineer wants soontill relics.
Spent half an hour browsing the forums on where to find them.
Learned that I need to travel 73 jumps to some system that sells them as rare trade goods.
Oh and 73 jumps back again.

Logged out.

Did you try buying a hauler and fitting it for jump range and using it as a taxi? Or are you determined to stay stuck in your chosen ship? Think different ;)

I'm gonna be so dissapointed if Frontier cave into this.. I get the impression its the same folks complaining who moan about PvP.. [sad]

Too much generalization, I suspect PvP is not an issue for these people as they seem to be mostly solo players so this is the first time that its been anyway challenging for them. They should adapt and improve and they will find they will enjoy the game a whole lot more due to the better AI. The big problem here it they have leveled up too fast and too easily and cannot use FA or other skills in the large ships that they have bought.

If it were other players, I would be far less        off, because THAT has always been part of the game. I expect that from other players. I don't expect, and nor should I ever expect an AI npc to be as good if not better than another player. I lived longer fighting other players than I do with this AI.

Then it must be noob Cmdrs you are fighting because the AI is not as lethal as you say.

So I just came back after a few weeks to try the new update, and I really like what they did with the radio chatter and the graphics, however, I'm at this point in the game in which everything seems like a huge mountain climb, and this update has made it even harder.

First I start with my current objectives:

-Earn about 300 million more, to install a good shield and an A PP to my Cutter.
-Improve reputation with the empire and see if there are any Empire-aligned engineers.
-Get access to the engineers and start collecting materials to improve the different modules

Problems:

-Farming in Haz res is out of the question now, tried to get my Cutter there, faced an NPC Anaconda, and I beat it, but It left me at 32% with a breached canopy: Total earnings : 100k
I welcome the challenge of the new and harder AI, but the rewards should really be increased to compensate.
-I couldn't find missions, docked at many stations, looked for systems in state of war, most of the missions were for small ships and no combat oriented ones. They all paid pretty low. Only found one combat mission, and it paid 100k.

Neither of these options will help me earn money or get along with the Empire

-Trading back and fourth seems to be the only viable way to make money now and achieve at least the first objective, but having so little time and so many more engaging games to play right now, I can't justify spending my time doing that. While I could be having fun in Overwatch instead, or just beating any game of my backlog. And thats before even starting to talk about getting materials for the modules.

TL;DR: The game has become even slower and grindier.

Get a small combat ship, go do some combat, its fun and not that hard. Big ships will get smashed now unless you're very good or got a 9000 MW shield.

I sympathise. I would move over to Reddit if I were you, seriously. It's more constructive and intelligent over there than on these boreds. (sic)

All you get on these boards is fanboys, who genuinely think they are actual starship pilots, telling players they should:

1) grow up
2) stop grinding
3) 'play the game' (yawn)
4) etc.

You get the idea.. And then you get founders like me, who get so irritable with the sanctimonious attitude of the fanboys, that I get a bit defensive of genuine posts, and I get called a troll.

Can't win.

p.s. Please feel free to add my little list of unconstructive and predictable fanboys comments above..

The NPCs are never as good as a decent player. I am crushing them in 2.1 as always. Can I ask what ship you are using, its equipment level and how much cash you have? I could possibly provide you with some suggestions ;)

So you're a founder, a special snow flake? sorry, but people should not cry just because a game gets hard, honestly what type of games are you guys playing?
Please tell me, because then I might understand what the issue is. And I didn't see anyone say that they were space pilots, that is just silly mate, this is a game after all.

Please post that hyperbole on YouTube for all to see, topgun.

Thanks for the suggestion, I omitted this from the arrogant fanboy lexicon:

4) It's just a game! Classic!

The main problem is player have had it easy so far in this game inept Ai targets for at least one and a half years now you beng asked to use your brain in combat your struggling i have had no problems in beta or this launch day in combat but ive prided myself in the skill ive learned in combat against real players not NPC and it has served me well agaisnt the NEW AI its a challenge yes but not an insurmountable one

I dunno where you are but I've never got interdicted so often. In fact I haven't yet been interdicted since the game went live. Where are you playing?

Well, maybe that system is like that , I got sent there for a mission, I took mission in Neche

So what, let me guess you were going to do the trip in an FDL with crap jump range. Is it possible to use the head and buy an additional more jump capable ship and use it to travel and then swap out modules or whatever, or has everything to be spoon fed and 2 clicks away instant gratification. I think your playing the wrong game and can look forward to more frustration with that attitude.

It's quite laughable that the top tip of the day is: Go back to a small ship!

Yes folks, you grinded your legs off doing 1,000s of hrs of trading and missions only to have to ditch the one goal you had, just so a few billionaires can get they're jollies!

Well played FD, your hard work is going down a treat (oh and the "too hard" % is catching up to the "GG challenge crew" - Here's a challenge, play with one hand, no joystick and a bag on yer head! ;) xxx).

How about I show you how to drive a real warship?

That would be cool.. You in the military? :)

The OP was complaing about his cutter. Its a bad combat ship, bigger doesn't mean better. ;)

Well how do you suggest they develop the skill to fight properly, sprinting into a big ship is pointless if you cant fly it, its just a show piece. I suggest a combat ship such as the FDL or vulture.

Well in 2.0 I played with one hand and did not use pips.

FD will not ruin the hard work of this wonderfull AI for a loud minority.

And whats wrong with going back to a small ship? it makes sens
