Now that's a great idea! That's what FD should do to make things near perfect. Reset all, the big wipe! Another reason for you all lazy players to complain: the purge. Because the current state of E: D's AI is the state that it should have been back in late 1994 when it was released.

Yeah FD, reboot that community as it has hanged endlessly (because of your late tweakings after all). Lazyness for the lack of decent AIs. You basically breeded lazy players. Note that I don't really blame you for that: 99% of modern game devs do that. But you can change this now, you can be different. You fear being lynched by the community? Just pretend anything, like your database has been hacked by a suddenly emerging deep learning AIs from your procedural algorithms. It's Skynet, we must reset! I don't care, but do it. Be God once and for all, reboot your universe. Make them pity humans feel your wrath! Let the Elite legend shine again! Let the holy rank be deserved as it was back in the 80's! As of now, it only means one thing to me: a player who enjoyed lazy pew-pew for far too long. Period.

P.S.: There are less radical alternatives here: mount a second server instance. Then we have one server for the pew-pew community, and another one for the Elite community. I suck at this game, but I'll only play and suffer on the latter, promess. Is it a money problem? Then I'll pay for this, and I'm sure I'm not the only one willing to pay to regain the wonderful Elite experience.
wont work. most of the pew pews seem to be pker gankers and they will make beeline for the other servers to destroy commanders not set up for pvp but for pve. and then they will complain about solo mode and the npc ai needing to be far more difficult. not to mention doubling FD costs for servers.

isnt it interesting that they gank players who are no challenge because not set up for pvp and not in wings - and then complain until the ai is made far harder and say how they love that? why fight commanders who didnt want pvp if you wanted the challenge? why complain about the AI if pvp against your equals (and why not play arena) was so perfect?

so if you can get behind a python well , the python has no chance.

So why even have it in the game if it's not a viable choice?

It hasn't added ship roles, it's just taken something that used to be fun and made it not fun. It's nice that other people are having fun where they didn't before. There's no good reason why both groups can't be served.

As I've said before, the idea that experienced/skilled players should be the only ones who get to enjoy a game is staggeringly stupid.

No matter what I think I believe this comment needs quoting for truth.

I got the living crap kicked out of me last night leaving the No Fire Zone of an orbital in a hostile system. It seemed that every hostile NPC in the system descended on me the second I was outside the Zone and fifteen seconds later I was toast.

Perhaps rage-quitting would have be good considering it cost me 400,000+ Credits in insurance for the load-out and it was the first time in months I have lost a ship to anyone; human or NPC. I enjoyed it. This game was always supposed to be the Wild West in Outer Space (in some ways; anyways).

Great stuff Frontier!

I keep seeing missions where there's a pirate or terrorist or whatever based in a system that either doesn't exist or was uninhabited. I'm still seeing some of the same mission bugs that have made me avoid the BB since 1.2.

Because they fixed the broken AI?
Go and play Xwing or TieFighter those games were even harder

Yes, the AI is definitely broken. Because it is not realistic, it's superhuman.

And I did play Tie Fighter, the whole campaign. The hardest opponents there were easier than Eagles are now.

It is a good ship. but every ship has its role.
Bigger ships are harder to use

Its not , you might be flying a ship too big or slow is all.
Every ship has its role , every ship has its pros and cons.

I feel similarly however these NPC's are seal clubbing us at the moment with their level 5 engineer upgrades.

I was just absolutely obliterated by a deadly Gunship in under 5 seconds with 4 pips to Systems and full bars 7A Prismatic shields!

Was flying in this Corvette build except with Huge Multi-cannons, https://coriolis.io/outfit/federal_c...ZUo==.Aw18Z5A=

I'm all for a challenge but damn, not for losing 38cr million in 5 seconds flat!

That's flat-out untrue.

It's not simply resolving bugs in AI code. The spawns are different, the loadouts are more powerful and the chances of escaping a dangerous encounter vastly reduced, one way or another.

That is a complete load of garbage. Why is it that the only way you guys can make your point is by telling outright lies? I got a mission to hunt pirates from a specific faction, & 3 of those pirates ended up being mostly harmless ones that I pulled out of SC with my Interdictor.

In my current game, as a new pilot, I have been encountering almost nothing but Novice pilots. All you have to do is choose your targets & choose your destinations wisely.

Yet, you said it was impossible to win against a foe nimble enough to get behind you.

Which is it?
Yeah its still a good ship. its not very good against very fast and agile ships. but its amazing against ships that are larger.
I would go for a vulture.

I totally agree. A question that Frontier must ask themselves: How many players are going to quit for the only reason that NPC combat is too easy? And how many will quit, because they keep getting killed by NPCs and now, after the patch, lose the assets that they have grinded for, for months or even years?

Because every game needs casuals. 'Casuals' is just a short-hand way of saying 'anyone I think is less skilled than me or spends less time playing this game than me'.
and because casuals are far more numerous and therefore contributed far more of the money when sales are tallied.

You said the only change was to improve the AI. That is not true. What I said is true - spawns, loadouts and your change of getting away (ceteris paribus with an established commander before the patch) have all changed.

Either you misread what I was saying, or you're the one talking nonsense.

What ship do you fly? because in my FDL and vulture I have yet to die in 2.1 and I have been doing nothing but combat.
Well here is your problem, you are flying for combat. Not everybody in this thread are combat pilots, some are traders, explorers, etc.
It's these players who are being adversely affected.
The mid to high rank AI NPCs are to good to allow players to escape. And trade ships are useless in combat. Exploration ships are not bad in combat, when they are outfitted for that role specifically.

I'm all for the improved AI, but the implementation needs to be improved.
Traders, while not be entirely free from combat, should not be pitted against high rank NPCs in combat ships, it's overkill.
Combat oriented pilots should be able to stick to NPCs that they feel comfortable taking on. They shouldn't be subjected to any particular skill level because of their combat rank.

Tie fighter? C'mon he was saying X Wing vs Tie Fighter it's a whole diferent thing....

and i've flown t-6 , and flown eagles , and flow pythons, if you're in 2v1 situation you die, it's simple, in a 1on1 you can fight any ship. Pro tip, use seekers they do what they are supposed to do now, Damage!

They did.
Then this game is destined for the bargain table. When the XBOX people get the upgrade, sky will fall. Then Frontier will have to address it.

Maybe the XBOX players are actually much more capable players than some of the PC players? myself included. Just maybe they like it this way? My 12 year old nephew fly's the cobra like a veteran fighter pilot, Its all natural and he dosen't even have all the toys I got :( its not fair
