I could be wrong , but the game has allways been like this from day one.
I know that. It was never a problem before, because the AI was stupid and didn't have engineering buffs. I remember being able to escape in a T7, before.
Now, with AI improvements and NPCs having access to modded weapons, shields drop faster. I'm dead before I can high wake.

The game does not force you in any type of encounter as you can see the rank of any NPC ship.
Really? Interdiction isn't a forced encounter? An NPC dropping in on a, supposedly Threat 0, Signal Source and immediately attacking is not a forced encounter?

Today I have been flying around in my salvage DBS with only two pulse lasers on it and have been going from signal source to signal source looking for cargo to pick up.

And so far I have had a few close calls , what I do is when ever a ship comes in the USS that looks like it could potentialy cause trouble I bug out.
The last few times ships dropped in on me, I didn't even have a chance to escape.

Your experiences and my experiences don't match up it seems. I'm here because I got frustrated with the game and wanted to see if others felt the same way(turns out, quite a few do). Your here, I am guessing, because you are afraid the FDev might nerf the AI in response to mine and others complaints.

But I must stress that I don't want the AI to be nerfed, I just wanted the encounters to be handled differently.
When I am in a ship outfitted for combat, looking for combat, I enjoy the tougher AI.
When I am trying to do something else other than combat, the AI ruins my enjoyment.
This update is making combat the only way to have fun it seems, to me.

WELL DONE WITH THE NEW AI! It's close to perfection from what I have tested right now. I died in a corvette and it was a good kill for the AI. They are very difficult to hit, if you are slow and they are maneuverable, but turrets work better than before. High ranks NPCs are harder to kill than most players, which is very good. Players should no longer fear so much open, since the differences are for now not that big. Well done!!!!! I really enjoy it, feels like a new game.

One remark, if you're reading this: The bounty hunters follow you way too much around. There is no way for a commander to follow someone around this way, so the NPCs should not be able to do it too. My suggestion is to limit their appearance in a certain Ly radius from your last know location.

It is extraordinary. In all games a people want better AI, more challenging game. In Diablo they want another hell/nightmare levels, deeper rifts. They are joining into the groups to go deeper and deepar if they cant alone. In the new Doom a folks are playing on some hard levels, in The Witcher they are playing new game+ but here: folks are complaining for quality of AI when AI becomes just enjoyable, not even nightmare/hell/hard.

The FAS is meant to be a heavy hull tank with high maneuverability. You know combat in smaller lighter frames, but really hulling out a FAS just makes it slightly slower, not less nimble.

FA OFF in a FAS has negative use. The ship is nimble enough; FA OFF just adds drift that the ship doesn't need more of.

FAS is only nimble vs slow heavy ships, and to some extent vs the FDL. Beyond that, it is a barn door with a well oiled hinge. Corners fast but is easy as hell to shoot. This drift you notice is also telling you something you may not realize. The FAS has intertia. Intertia creates predictable flight paths. Which means AI aiming routines are going to guess right more often than not. Adding heavy armor may not limit your turning radius much, but it increases your drift (inertia). Exacerbating the predictable flight path issues of high mass ships.

I just wish my python was a bit better. It should be able to follow a viper with the right pip management. However I cant keep in behind one or even a cobra without slamming into reverse. They are just a bit too good. Need to be somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

I think some people get other people wrong when some says this is unplayable and they reply they don't know how to play well our make a good outfitting. For sure there is some they don't know how but i don't think everyone one who says it's unplayable are noobs or not good fighters.I think it's more a discouragement of not getting enough money to build right. For example i need 109 millions for my mirrored armour on my fer-de-lance .. i hate trading wich is the best way to get money but it's boring, exploration don't give enough and now bounty is harder and makes us back to stations faster so money is hard to make. I think those who say to others they don't know how to play have already their annaconda or big ships so they don't have to worry about cash anymore. My friend have his annacondas and even if Ia is harder he still kill everything easily. So what i do to get 109 millions now not buying a type 9 for sure ....

you think wrong.. I like the new AI and I'm flying an Asp. I was doing missions lots of times, so I have factions paying 2M or more for missions of all kind. I can rebuy my ship with one or two missions without problems and still save some more CR. being killed does not discourage me, as it is something Im expecting every time I undock.

I really think the problem is that people got used to be the top of the Elite food chain.

nice :)

Adapt. Survive. Improve to fight again another day. Really respect this kind of problem solving attitude. Especially in the face of a new challenge.

and there is a place to practice this with zero loss of CR:

1) beginner tutorials
2) CQC (Arena)

o7

And fly safe

The current adaptation is turret or bust though, I love the new AI but at some point you have to admit its gonna need tweaking, I've had a novice rank imp courier stay in the blind zone on my corvette perfectly for a solid 3 minutes with zero mistakes (was testing), that is a skill i've never even found in a player lol, though a player would have done considerably more damage.

Now if AI of that skill was reserved for exceptional ranks (elite/dangerous) I don't think it needs tweaking, but a novice is daft i'm not sure i can even tell the difference between NPC ranks currently - I think they all fly exceptionally well vs large ships but lower ranks have worse equipment, their actual piloting skill is identical.

Still loving the change I wish the game had been like this from the start maybe the whole dynamic would be different, always harder when your lulled into a false sense of security ;) Its not been too bad for me as I've always chosen to deliberately fight good players if possible but I can sympathize with how solo/pve players will feel about this.

I think we all wanted the same thing. Better AI. I do trading. I think all we traders ask for is the interdicts to be scaled back some and the AI match our ships with the equivalent weapons and combat skill level. I don't want the bounty hunter's game ruined or the combat expert's game ruined. I just want and I am sure the miners, explores, and fellow tradesmen will agree, our game play ruined. Right now this is what is happening. Should be an easy fix without nerfing the AI altogether.

At last, some one with a brain. :) No one is out to rain on wee Timmy's parade, but that shy, quiet kid in the corner just wants left alone to carry his books back and forth to the library! ;) Fill your rez, low and high with things armed to the teeth, put back normal space, then the "we only see red" crew can go play with their toys while the normal folk work away at they're made up jobs in made up space! /simples!

You lot made us like this, see? You manipulate the Devs into making the game what you want by screaming at the top of your lungs and spamming the forums with your guffins.

The fact that a forum moderator literally had to make this thread just so you lot would stop spamming the forums is pretty self evident.

We're bitterly tired of it.

If you don't like it, go and play another game. After all, that appears to be your advice to others who disagree with you...

Well... i have to rethink what i said before. Yesterday i tried live and i must say that if you fit your ship properly, there wont be any problem with the new AI. I was on my keelback, and were interdicted by an elite asp. I could survive and destroy it.

Its true that i had problems and i could die, but destroying an elite asp with a keelback (wich sucks at combat) should be near at impossible, if the AI was so op as some people say.

And i could run wirhout any damage if i wished at any moment.

So i redo my conclussion: 0 problems with the new AI.

The 0 threat thing is on purpose , its zero at the time but... someone else see you go in there so they follow suit.
To me , thats a feature. it makes it realistic and adds to something I have been looking for : adventure

Jump out of the signal source when another ship comes in , thats what they do in movies and scripted games , its what I do.

I am not just scared about an AI nerf , I dont want to loose the epic adventures that can come out of this.
I like being hunted when I am trading. its rare , I avoid dangerous systems if possible I fly in systems were no one lives.
When I arrive at a star I make sure to pick up a lot of speed before heading in the direction of a station I am going to trade with and then head there. that way it would be harder for NPCs to interdict me.
When they do interdict me , I fight off the interdiction (not with combat , just the mini game) but if it does not go my way I submit and then boost out of the way will all power in engines and the rest in sys.

for me that works most of the time.

I find the new additions immersive , and immersion is what I am after. I want to live epic moments that on there own would make an intresting segment in a movie.
Like that time when the imperial players blockaded that station and I made it out alive in my trading cobra with only 3% hull , I dont have a clue how I did it but it was epic.
