Your frustration is understandable. Getting repeatedly interdicted is very annoying. But here is a suggestion and let me know what you think. Why not just post a thread, "Keep getting interdicted. Any way to avoid this?" See if you get any good responses. Try them out and see if things improve.
You already got plenty of good responses. They may not work in all circumstances but they should drastically reduce the frequency of interdictions you experience.
It would also be nice to know what ship you're using, what defenses you have equipped, your shields, etc. Maybe a different loadout would also help.
Ultimately, what you want is a solution. Changing the game is one solution but we should first be sure there is no strategy change that could address your problem.
This is a big and complicated game. No one knows everything there is to know, right?
This wasn't an issue before 2.1. I'd get interdicted a couple of times here and there. But, not like this. I might even go so far as to say, "not too much, not too little, but just enough to not know what caused it".
Now though? This has thoroughly transferred into the realm of excessive.
I know exactly what is causing it. The NPCs are spawning as a part of the mission, or as a result of carrying cargo, or sometimes both. The ones that follow from system to system do so because they are tied to the mission itself.
The only options are:
1. Run.
2. Kill (my Asp ain't gunna solo no Deadly Vulture or FDL- those are combat ships made for combat. My Asp, not so much. Which I'm fine with, btw. Combat ships should be better at combat than exploration ships.)
3. Failure (not an option- only listed for completion purposes).
4. Not doing missions at all...which is like not playing. I don't think FD intended for that to be one of the answers though.
While I appreciate the diplomatic approach, this thread was not the product of bewildered wide-eyed innocence in the face of indescribable mystery.
I know how to survive interdictions, but having to do it every time I sneeze is reaching a level of ridiculousness that I can't put into words.
Not to mention that it completely destroys the illusion that this a "living galaxy complete with random encounters". They're not random, knowing the triggers for that kind of encounter makes suspending disbelief a little difficult.
Instead of saying "I ran into pirates", I now think of it as "I have cargo so the game generated pirates because I triggered the event". Lame.
