There are pages of topics with cmdr's offering good advice, those topics haven't been deleted. I don't know how many times I've personally offered advice, someone even put all the topics into one thread. As suggested above, perhaps something should be stickied at the top of the forum, at least until escape tactics become common knowledge.

The devs should probably think about including a tutorial on escape tactics.

You're right -- there are. No denying that. But as I've pointed out, when someone is at the point of rage-quitting, they are not in the correct frame of mind to go searching through forum posts for tidbits of advice. In their mind, they are hurt and they need help now. Unfortunately, their grief often inhibits their ability to effectively express that need.

I made this post earlier today, and not surprisingly, it got zero traction... here, check it out.

What an arrogant, dismissive response to a user having real problems with a game that they used to enjoy.

He was no such thing. He was truthful. The OP needs to realize big ships aren't his bag. He needs to step into something smaller until he learns how to play the game. So many folks are flying around in their big toys and are unqualified to pilot them.

Hello all fellow CMDRS well it has come to this sad sorry ending for my Elite adventures in the bubble :) went to Dahan this evening in my relatively new Cutter made Duke pre 2.1 so thought i would try the new missions, oh boy what a mistake i made getting this out of the garage interdiction after interdiction came by the same NPC in his invincible Vulture it was so sad to see my lovely cutter scrapped in a few pew pews :)

So got a little Hauler same again made mince meat out of me ,saw a vid today about using Mines never used em before errr..... dont bother didnt have time to fire em off :) boom that was that.

After a few haulers later made it to my Lovely Anaconda that went the same way just now but hey got the vulture down to 99 percent :) cockpit canopy went thought no probs i`ve got my Auto repair kit, couldnt fix it so running out of air fast even though i had 25 mins to start with ,my hull was down to 1 percent interdicted again trying to see out of a small corner of my window ,you guessed it gone in a flash.

Thats it for now putting it down going to play some of the other games i have i am not mad found it quite funny and sad to see this game become less enjoyable after every rebuy option comes up.

I am not the best pilot by far and i will have a go at combat pre 2.1 was ok i lost some won most now well all i say is good luck to all who say they havent lost a thing i have. not bitter just very disappointed in the game now .

So looking forward to the engineers for the custom elements it would bring looks like the NPC `s have got there before me at least . chow folks T out

How, I mean the Cutter can out run most ships and is one of the strongest ships in the game. This is not the fault of the game I'm afraid just very poor judgement and piloting on the Cmdr`s part, no excuses.

Edit - and the AI is far from invincible, I have taken down elite FGS,FDL etc in my 5A prismatic annie, the cutter is even a much safer ship. This with non modded weapons.

Instead of incrementally improving the AI over time, it went from flying potatoes to skynet overnight. People are struggling and it's not really their fault. How they acquired their large ships is irrelevant.

That may very well be -- but there is a way to convey that message more effectively with compassion and a displayed willingness to help. His post was nothing but an arrogant, barbed criticism of the OP.

who the hell do you think you are to decide he didnt work/earn his big ships? You sound like a petty jealous child.

Technically, there is another option, which apparently the OP chose to take. The OP doesn't need to realize anything or L2P, as he has clearly stated, he can just go play something else. It's not the worse thing in the world, though. Not every game is for everyone. I'm sure FD is ok with that though, it's not like they're a business or anything.

"Skynet", what complete rubbish, people just have to engage their brain. They decide to either fight or flight and plan accordingly, it couldn't be simpler.

Hear Hear... If someone goes from an Asp to a Cutter because they gamed the system and got billions before they knew how to fly correctly, then this wouldn't happen. If you fly small ships, then medium ships then big ol' monster sized boats, then you get the feel for what's what. And going to a hauler quickly is insane. Take some time. Love the Sidey. The Sidey is an awesome ship in it's own right.

Yeah, I get interdicted. ALOT these days as I am doing the "Engineers Scavenger Hunt 3302" and have all sorts of doo dads, odd bits of string and a hold full of random stuff. Know what? If you are in a good system, the police show up. If you are in a good-ish system they may take a bit longer. And if you are in an "Oh-Oh" system, well, that's why I always have the best thrusters and power plant available for my ship. Zoom away. You can still run like a bunny. Submit, run, High Wake out.

Compassion is unnecessary. Nobody died here. Nobody lost their family. Nobody lost their home. Someone got blown up in a VIDEOGAME. Videogames are about numbers and it is best to be bold and to the point when discussing them.

THAT BE WHO I BE!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

p.s. I was robbin' trade folk in me Viper long before most of these "Big Ship proz" could fasten their bobby pins!

The H-Jump is your friend

That's great advice -- but it needs to be more recipient-friendly and easier to access than down on the third page of some thread. Consider that your listener doesn't know what an "H-Jump" is? He hears your advice, now does he feel less frustrated, or more frustrated?

And I get it -- lots of folks are now abbreviating their posts because "how many times can they write the same thing?!" if this information were stickied, in a very explanatory and friendly way, then a lot of the aggravation on both sides might disappear.

Angry? No not at all, just really curious, it's gotta be incredibly frustrating for him. Here's the thing, most of these kinda topics are not accompanied by a video, rarely does the Op ask what could have been done differently.

look, I am primarily a trucker & explorer, I don't even have Elite in Combat.. I still made a bit of an effort to learn from mistakes, seek advice from others and try and improve.

My only point is the Op has either been working a long time to get a those big ships, in all that time he hasn't tried to understand basic defense measures, or he's fast tracked his way to a big ship via Robigo or some other method and now found he is way out of his depth. Either way he should be seeking some help in defending himself.

Telling someone that they should log a ticket or take time out isn't going to help them long term, am sure if he found out how easy it is to avoid destruction he would start enjoying the game again, he's flying a frikin Cutter & Anaconda, a few simple steps and he can laugh off any NPC.
I somehow have to agree on this. Sure it's great and ego boosting to have those big pricey ships but the game has changed and not in a favorable way to players who are relatively inexperienced in combat or interdiction. After having an obvious difficult time in his capital ship a person would think he would explore the information, community and You Tube tutorials offered to try to adjust his techniques so he would be more effective and adept. Therefore having more fun keeping his ships and playing the game. Or taking a breath and going to a smaller ship and changing game objectives until the game either balances out or one can learn a bit more aggressive tactics without suffering such a large re-buy. But maybe that's someone's choice on how they want to play the game and I can respect that. Just can't find myself coming to the pity party.

You're completely wrong about that. I have a feeling that you're choosing to be that way on purpose, so I'm done with this conversation.

"Skynet", what complete rubbish, people just have to engage their brain. They decided to either fight or flight and plan accordingly, it couldn't be simpler.

I was using skynet as an example to highlight the dramatic difference. The AI isn't much harder to beat. After engineer weapons were removed it took all of two battles to figure out the pattern. The problem is everyone isn't as adept as you or I. If people were given a chance to adapt over time to small improvements, like fixing the rotisserie bug and not letting it fester for months, there would be far fewer complaints. That's not even taking into account the issues with interdiction frequency and getting constantly harassed by AI well above your combat rank.

Tbh the only time you really get in trouble with interdicting npc's, is when you have one of those Neo moments, and start to believe you are the one :D should do what we all do when we see a agent and run :p

Hello fellow pilots thanks for the replies everyone has a point of course ,My cutter was taken out by a NPC elite python ,i got a hauler(s) to get to my anaconda at Hip 93377 this is when i was attacked constantly by the vulture sorry got a bit confused as this happened in the heat of the battle :)

I did try to escape used all the tactics i had learnt but in the case of your thrusters being knocked out and the FSD malfuctions critical modules werent working. all the time shields then hull going going gone

prior to this i had escaped or evaded the NPC interdictions it was at my destination the final blows finished me off ,i have learnt that have your home bases or ship parking spots a short a distance as possible from the star mine was over 2000 LS

In the case of the Anaconda my canopy was gone and FSD was disabled trying to jump but at 1 per cent hull just gave up after interdiction over and over ,didnt do Robigo missions as a rule tried one or two but got scanned so data missions failed ,the AI is good now but Frontier did admit there was (is) a bug in the NPC overpowered weapons .

Not blaming anyone here for my mistakes i will be taking a break, for awhile now spent quite a lot of time on this and real money on the paint jobs etc

I can only relate a ww2 story the german kreigsmarine pride of the german nation the mighty Battleship Bismark 56000 tons of heavy metal was disabled by a lucky strike on its rudder by British naval swordfish torpedo bomber

unable to steer rudder was jammed was sunk by the british ( germans say they scuttled her ) so you can see a Vulture is capable of taking the big ships out :) that did have the right tools for the job :)

T out

I think that may be one of the biggest problems. Folks got so used to being "the one" with the old release that they are having trouble adapting their playstyle now. In the past, when I would get interdicted, I would submit just so I could waste the guy to make a point. Now, unless I'm in a combat rig, I run before the interdiction can even happen.
