bankrupt almost

Well "walk a mile in a man's boots..." I do not understand either, but that hardly matters.
I think the problem lies in that when you are high ranking and fly out in a "truck" or not combat ship, the parameters are not changed, and Heavens forbid you have Engineers stuff on board, you will get hammered, continuously. Hardly inspiring for anyone.

Cheers Cmdr's

As combat rank is cumulative, there is no way for someone to not run into the trouble of being high ranked at one point, even if he does not do combat all that much. I have a similar problem, that i am now dangerous ranked and regulary get hunted by Elite FDLs while sitting in my Trade Cutter. Even with Shields and SCBs the only thing i can do is run and enjoy the fun of chain interdictions. The problem is i am not masochist enough to do this more than once per play session. So the session basicly ends once i got rid of that attacker.
Well, i havent been playing much lately anyway. I tryed it a few times, but the NPCs keep trying to ram me to death every time and unless this is fixed the game is broken for me.

IMHO the game is currently (the hard way) re-teaching Players to adapt.

Namely : when to stick and fight - but most importantly when to retract hardpoints and get the heck outta there

Naturally that adaption process is somewhat painful.

PS.
In a Cutter or Anaconda?
There's no better Ships than these big rigs, when it comes to escaping from pretty much anything.
That's their luxury, they can leave any fight.

I've landed mine with 50% Hull due to those new NPCs - but that was me re-evaluating Weapons & Tactics and intentionally sticking around despite soaking up tons of damage.
Some of the tests just didn't work too well ;)

Hello to all thanks for the all the responses to my misfortune, some people here probably didnt have a bad experience with the new Ai and can meet its new improved tactics

That's great if you can learn what's happened and why, looking back now I see it was a combination of the new missions with hostile ships will be sent to stop you etc, the persistent interdiction which keep going till kill or be killed, the super weapons, your ships systems being disabled to prevent escape, all sorts of things that ultimately lead to the insurance screen.

For now though I have put elite to one side and am playing other games, when to me a game becomes Un enjoyable I stop playing and move on bye for now or its more au revoir :) o> T out

One more component in that combination of circumstances which seems conveniently forgotten; the commander who doesn't know exactly what they are doing.

This is taboo however so pretend I never said that.

I still don't understand how can anyone die in a Cutter unless they didn't pay attention, made mistakes, or wanted to die, I really don't get it.

You and me both.

Well, the cutter is a combat ship. Just like the corvette is a combat ship.

These are treated as multipurpose ships by the community because they have a ton of internal slots but they were designed as and are pure combat ships given their maneuverability, massive hull and subsequent base armor, their base shield multiplier and relatively small inherent jump ranges compared to true multiputpose ships.

If you can survive trading or mission running in a conda, a cutter will be invincible in your hands, as long as you know how to outfit and fly one for the purpose.

I'm fed up with this attitude of 'everything except my understanding of the game must be flawed because I know everything there is to know'. No you don't. If you did, you wouldn't be dead in a cutter. You would either fit your ship suitably for the mission at hand, have chosen a better ship for the mission at hand or have abandoned the mission long before it became a nuisance.

The key to survival in Elite is to be preemptive. Don't put yourself in situations you won't survive and no, the game doesn't force you in those situations. It literally tells you before it does.

I fly a bulk trade/mission hauler cutter and had to make the hard choice of sacrificing some cargo space for survivability, all turrets on every hard point, class 8 shield, class 6 & 5 SCB and all A rated systems... ive not met an Ai yet 1v1 who could take my shields down. This was also fighting wings of 3 (vultures and a cobra). My ship is a slow lumbering behemoth but if i feel i wont win the fight it hives me more than ample time to flee. Although the cargo trade off does mean my limit os only 380t instead of 700 but id much rather lose a few creds to lost earnings than lose 40 million in rebuy.

This is the best way for people to realize why they shouldn't fly what they can't afford to rebuy.

Yup, this hasn't been mentioned for a few weeks. Some newer player need this reminder, yes.

Don't buy ships unless you have 2 times the fully kitted coriolis price in cash + insurance + a full cargo hold of gold.

My stance on this is that FD did indeed completely change the way the game is played, It was not a smooth transition at all instead it was sudden impact.

I enjoy playing Left for Dead 2, it pretty chilled and exciting at the same time. You can run about pretty care free and shoot the hell out of zombies to really blow off some steam. What's not to love. Imagine that in a new update they decide to add extra realism and now being bitten or scratched from a single zombie means guaranteed death from zombification within the next 5 minutes. All of a sudden you can't go ANYWHERE near them for fear of ruining your progress. The hardcore's will go "This is great!, Finally a challenge!" and all the casual players go "Wait, what? This game is really hard all of a sudden! I keep dying and can't play the way I have been for over a year. :( "

I could come up with a dozen examples like this but can't be bothered right now, you get my point.

I can't think of another developer that make such rash changes to a game without accounting for an adjustment period or adding the option to opt out of sudden increases in difficulty. It seems to me like the biggest thing to avoid when you already have amounted a player base over more than a year, is making sudden changes to how people need to play the game. The AI was really lacking before but it was left like that for far too long. Shame it wasn't tackled when the game was in alpha when they had an excuse for having dumb AI.

Compassion is unnecessary. Nobody died here. Nobody lost their family. Nobody lost their home. Someone got blown up in a VIDEOGAME. Videogames are about numbers and it is best to be bold and to the point when discussing them. - - - - - Additional Content Posted / Auto Merge - - - - - LOL I'll tell you who the hell I think I am. I... am Mr_Blastman, feared pirate of the starry black! THAT IS WHO I AM, MORTAL. Oh, get over yourself! Your roleplaying skills are weak so go bore your mother or something...

Hello again folks thanks Kizbot that sums up my feelings about the game as it is, as for the comments about not getting how I lost my ship and not knowing what I am doing I find quite insulting whether intentional or not but I am not rage quitting.

I made the rank to Duke for my cutter and I was very excited to leave the station for its first missions and also always made sure I had insurance in case of mishaps

Didn't have the beta access to try out the pre 2 1 launch just went out on 2 1 day after game upgrade and as mentioned before ended up losing my cutter, before missions were A to B no problems with npc

to the folks who say should have high waked out couldn't due to fsd and thruster malfunctions, canopy went so that was that :-( dead in the water

I'd be interested in the pilots who could get away after that

I could be wrong but havent the devs made reparations to players who lost ships to Ai after 2.1 released, personally i didnt have access to beta but i did read the beta forum and saw a few videos on youtube of what i could possibly expect (as i understand the Ai have even been toned down since 2.1) .. this helped me evaluate the survivability vs cargo capacity. I was running with 30 million credits in the bank and a rebuy of 40 million so it was touchy at times.

Hello again, I did see 2 1 previews on obsidian ants channel didn't think Ai would be tagged to your missions so became ever so annoying with constant interdictions, had a small taster doing my only Robigo run :) to succeed :)
Pre 2.1
As for a refund not had a penny piece from anyone don't know how you get it back, ticket support? T out

When 2.1 was first deployed, there was a bug in their networking code which caused some NPCs to fly around with crazy impossible mods with deathstar power. Over that weekend there was quite a few deaths because of this and FD decided to reimburse anyone who died during that weekend.

However, I don't believe they are still reimbursing for deaths from NPCs since the bug was fixed and is now working 'as intended'.

You could beg them for it and if you catch a support guy in a good mood they might do it, but I am not confident they will on the grounds that your death was not the result of a bug.

Hello Kizbot ,if i wasnt killed cos of the bug then that explains why no cash refund.having said that i am not convinced that AI arent still kitted out with top weapons either engineered or not .i can stand to the loss (as long as its not every time i leave a station) :)

I said in my thread title bankrupt almost must admit had to sell my sidewinder and hauler taxi rank :) well a few anyway. doing that now thanks to the bookmark system oh no something i like in 2.1 gasp!

My cutter is in dock along with My python ,and Anaconda ,been flying the Fed Gunship last weekend tried the seeker missiles plain vanilla ones not bad if target can be locked , i have a mix of multi cannon and energy weapons now and have materials to increase damage of these via synthesis when re arming.

Also had some dumbfire rockets for a base attack took a take out the skimmers mission got hit bad by Archie from base ground fire. thing is there were no skimmers to kill had to abandon mission result repairs plus fine :( rep minus also use to knock out the base generators to silence the turrets fired a few rockets at the base but no result with that :) or with the turrets T

Nothing is mass locking a Cutter (except another Cutter) It's hard to believe that anyone could lose a Cutter during a 1v1 vs AI, even harder to believe that someone could play long enough to own a Cutter & Anaconda yet still not perform a basic escape maneuver. Are all these posts the result of Robigo? I can't think of any other reason.

Tbh the worst thing about these topics is the op doesn't even seem to care about analysing where things went wrong, then 'myrr mac' comes along and tells him to write a ticket to support :/

This has nothing to do with Robigo. If anything, Robigo missions teach you how to escape. Anyone with a lot of experience doing shadow deliveries knows how to get away.

Ships systems reboot should have fixed the malfunctions, blown canopy might be sucky but surely it is not the end of the world, I have lost my canopy and still been able to engage enemies or bug out and dock at a station... but as you say this also happened during the time of the engineering superweapons bug, so did you get your insurance credits back from frontier (when they recently announced the insurance refunds)? did you post a support bug report and see if they could re-instate your ship?

Anyway enjoy whatever game you are playing... Wait to see what future releases bring and maybe we will see you out in the black again someday...

(FWIW I enjoyed playing the beta and the increased AI put up a nice fight after a bit of revision on them during the beta IMHO)
