those looking for barnacles, I suggest to first get to an existing one and check what is maximum distance from where you can see it and set the options > graphics > "maximun rendering distance" setting to its max value. I'd you also check what is the max distance where you can see the large rocks and report both that would be great.

Could someone please let us who are not in California Nebulae know how the system the barnacle was found is like? What planet it was found on, size, temp etc? I couldn't find this info on any of the sites linked in first posts like Canonn or NetSlayer's spreadsheet, sorry if it's there.

What settings are you running it on ultra? i have 2 980ti's and can't do supersampling with out frame rate drops on the DK2, with ultra settings everything elses, i have till august to wait for mine (even though every one i know that ordered after me has theirs now, thanks facebook) so was just wondering what i can expect from it.

Everything on max :)

Supersampling doesn't work on the CV1; nor does changing the resolution. But that doesn't matter - honestly the visual quality is so far in advance of the DK2 it's ridiculous. Only the god-ray thing (caused by the fresnel lenses) is a bit distracting, but you get more scope to move your eyes around and still be able to make stuff out, and you get used to it.

With your DK2, you'll get better all-round performance if you disable Sli - even with 1.5 supersampling (although I just went for max res and switched off SS). It's the same with the CV1: Sli kills performance - especially around stars and planets. Latency. *Seriously* thinking about a 1080.

That's why I'm hoping for FD to implement either or both of VRWorks/Liquid VR or the new simultaneous multiprojection - proper *native* Sli VR. Ah... dreams.

Also, would be really nice if they considered bringing Ansel in for Solo mode (can't do in connected modes because it pauses the rendering loop).

Anyway. O/T - sorry all!

wow did not know that. wonder if that's why they don't look like that in game.
Strictly in game many of these nebulae should be getting far far larger as we approach them - the crab nebula's expansion can be tracked in just as long as humans have been watching, imagine how big it ACTUALLY is right now if that's light from thousands of years ago.

i spangled my head with this and decided I was better off ignoring it.

Well done on your find!
May I point out one small correction though. You're looking at a Barnacle on California Sector DL-Y D4 C 3 while targeted onto C 2.
It's been independently confirmed now. 12 spikes, intact, no defences.
New tab started on the sheet. :)
