AI Skill aside, a lot of them just seem... BROKEN

Yesterday while exploring, I was interdicted by a named pirate. I was in my viper IV modified for exploring, had not a JOT of cargo.. The skilled Pirate in the Python just casually pulled me in and attacked me for no reason, no Scan, no demand of cargo (which again, had NONE).

Cops and stations will sometimes ignore hostile law-breaking NPCs, once I was persued by a pirate to a Station, even after he opened fire past the No-Fire Line, the cops did nothing until another merchant basically came to my aid and the pirate counter-attacked

Factional NPC's have gone from waffling between pure Political Assassins (Just killing you outright) and Corporate Raiders (Just demanding your cargo) to just plain psychopaths who sometimes don't even talk at all.

I'm not gonna argue about their skill anymore, but please fix their behaviors?

Beside the ongoing problems, has anyone encountered these problems with Elite Dangerous Horizons after the 02 upgrade?

1. Stuck for over 5 minutes in Hyperspace, can't ESC so had to CTRL+ALT+DEL and re-launch the game.

2. Various server errors, 'Unable to get an up to date mission list from server'. The Mission Menu seems to take longer to refresh too.

3. Another different server error, 'Could not connect to the adjudiction server, press OK to return to the main menu'.

Finally does any one know how to get 3 x Soontil Relics and 2 x Specialised Legacy Firmware?

I was off the game some time and came back recently.

I flew my Python fully armed as usual and died 3 times within a couple of hours, 12 Million down the drain and endless frustration.

I came to the forums and found out they changed the AI of ships! They could have put some warning out there in the game telling us that they change AI. :(

A Python is no longer a usefull ship as it is too slow to turn around and any small ship can outturn you and kill you.

So frustrated now with the game.

Fly to Nguri

Buy relics.

The SLF seems harder but turns up a lot as mission rewards and I think in surface POIs but tbh I've not kept an eye out - someone will hopefully say soon though.

This illustrates another issue with this update. In addition to some play styles becoming no longer viable, some ships are also no longer viable....at least without being set up very specifically or with difficult to obtain mods.

Since I took my AspX to explore California Nebula, go to Maia taking meta alloy for engineer, and do few missions, I just had few interdictions. A létal sidewinder I coulent turn over, so I ran away losing 20% hull.
I made rare trade runs for cg, no big problem either.

And took my Vulture to bounty hunting around a nav beacon. It was normal too.I will try Ai with the Vulture, before getting back exploration.

All Ochinawa needed to do was ask how other cmdrs how to escape, it has been demonstrated by multiple cmdr's on this forum. He doesn't need to learn how to fight, cmdr's can no longer get away with pointless techniques like flying in a straight line watching the FSD charge crawl along. The Python can handle anything the NPC's throw at it, as long as the cmdr deals with the situation correctly.

Yep. All he needs to do is learn how to properly run away. Along with a good 70% of the player base.

How is this fun again?

I think Becks may have provided a new line of inquiry. What if it's (at least in part) tied to engineer mods on the ship you're currently flying?

Not for me; I haven't made one Engineering mod.

Before I switched ships, I was running an A-rated Python with shield boosters that I've been flying since... oh, maybe 1.2.

My stats:

Mostly Harmless
Pathfinder
Elite

Lieutenant
Baron

No PowerPlay
No bounties.

+2.5bil assets (1.5bil credits on hand)
Python
Anaconda
iClipper
CobraMKIII
DBX
AspX
- all A-rated; all being flown for months

USES:

1 lazy 1-jump trade run in the Anaconda.
Python for exploration
CobraMKIII - created special for 2.0.1.2 or whatever it is now. Everything else is in dry dock.

Still getting interdic't about every 2-3 jumps inside the Bubble. No cargo. Mostly Anacondas & FdLs (occasionally a Vulture). All Dangerous and above. Haven't seen a lower rank since 2.1 dropped. The Annies are invariably Elite.

With cargo, every jump (esp with Engineer commodities, which I quit taking).

There was another theory put forth here I am considering: that the NPC AI is using total assets as a generating seed.

Well if he can't fight, then he must run away. That's how it usually goes. Third option would be to close your eyes and plug your ears and hope the big bad ship goes away, but that doesn't seem very likely to happen, now does it?

*sigh*

As always, the people who want to learn and ask questions find out that its perfectly possible to kill NPCs in a modest Python, whereas the whiners will just state its impossible as some sort of Holy Fact and spend the remaining of their time explaining why they have no time to learn some basic skills.

Python no longer viable, please...[rolleyes]

Yes, for above average pilots or veteran pilots, these are obstacles that we can overcome and continue to enjoy the game.
But the game won't survive solely on our occasional paint purchases now will it?

Driving away players of average skill is really not a good idea, and neither is insulting them when they voice their frustrations.

If all they can be expected to do is run in terror all the time..... Well, I hazard a guess that they'll find something else to play.

I've just been in a High Intensity Combat Zone in a Python - and I didn't get destroyed. :D

I did run away after about 9 kills though, when an Anaconda and some wee pals decided to focus on me. Still, I'd completed the mission that I was working on.

There are other threads about problems with the game where this post should go (particularly the bug threads). But to answer: yes to all of the above, & Soontil Relics were at Ngurii for a short window after 2.1 dropped but now cannot be found.

As an occasional player I am finding the AI too hard for me now. I think in my last spate of two hours each, I have been handed my ASP on a plate... when I haven't even been looking for trouble. Running doesn't seem to be an option either... In both cases the gains of the previous couple of hours were wiped out.

Soon it will feel like... "what's the point!"

The trick is not to look for trouble..
if you have cargo, that is now obviously looking for trouble. if you have mission reward commodities, according to your logic, you are looking for trouble. if you are coming back from the void with millions in exploration data and no cargo at all... somehow you are looking for trouble?
