UAs, Barnacles & other mysteries Thread 7 - The Canonn

Ifound myself thinking exactly along these lines when I read about Jaques Station. I really think that there are 2 alien races out there and they're in contention. UAs and UPs share a common appearance like a taxonomic phylum (similar source creatures). They are active and cause corrosive damage to our ships without specialised cargo racks.
The Barnacles are docile, quiet and almost like cows in that they can be"farmed" for materials and meta-alloys. Meta-alloys have an effect that counteracts the effect of UAs. THAT is why I think these 2 races are in contention, because one nullifies the effect of the other. When you think of it in those terms, the rest of what's going on starts to make more sense.
The UAs are deployed in a spherical shell 135-150ly in radius, all pointing at Merope. They are acting like antibodies, surrounding a perceived threat and isolating it. Now we have Unknown Probes, all pointing decisively at Merope 5C, the planet where Barnacles were first found. UPs and UAs are clearly from a similar origin. I think this is another race looking to contain and then exterminate a threat to them.
Then there's the Feds at Merope 2A putting down skimmers and turret placements. I think the Feds know there are 2 xeno factions and are farming Barnacles for MAs in preparation for a shooting battle with the creators of UAs. Think about it. CRCR are made with MAs. MAs repair damaged stations. MAs are the UAs "kryptonite".

It may be worth investigating the point on 5c where the galactic plane "meets the ground" since the galactic plane and Merope 5 together look a bit like an arrow pointing towards something on the ground

Can we start a new thread that is just a daily digest of this threads pertinent info, or even hourly?! I feel that for every page I read, two more get added! With the barnacle new nebula, defences, UP's and now Jaques all happening......keeping up to date is beginning to feel like a job (or grind!)

I didn't just hear the whale song and say oh it must be echolocation. It was actually the click noises that made me think of echolocation. Then I started reading. And reading. All day. And one after another the connections were made. I posted them as I discovered them. Probably the wrong way to do it, would of been better consolidated into one post. I was travelling at the time and had patchy reception so I just tried to type in shorter posts whilst I had signal. Give me 5 and I will try to summarize all the information I discovered today on the topic.

Please understand, I'm sure no-one here is trying to pour cold water on your ideas. It is just that we've seen a few times on this thread the lack of information from FD combined with speculation posts leads to wildly off-topic ideas. Hell, I think it was in one of the earlier UA threads where I wondered if the UA morsing the system name would be the way that we would find Raxxla...!
The moral of the tale is that we must all be careful of ideas that we can't test. As Dr. Arcanonn would say, "For science!".
Given it is almost certain that you caused Jacques to mis-jump, I've been wondering if your were going to volunteer to try some sort of rescue? From this response I take it you are only interested in being the equivalent of a space chav, causing vandalism and chaos? [arrrr]
There are whale sounds at a lower freq in witch space.

Well it was a sure thing the FDEV would pick it up and run with it. I suspect they were expecting someone to do it, and had that possible story pre written.
Of course Jmanis knew exactly what he was doing and what he wanted to achieve. I just think doing 'for science' would be a rather poor explanation. That would be like nuking London 'for science'. Which makes him in effect an simple arsonist.

We have tried multiple threads before. It actually gets a lot harder to martial information between them and to check everything that's going on.
I just keep checking back, leaving a tab open at the last page I was on, and when I come back after a few hours or whatever I look at how many pages have been added and make a judgement call: if it looks like significantly more posts have been added than normal, I zip to the end based on the assumption that somethig big has probably happened. If not, I page through and read everything.
Riz is always reading through and keeping the first posts up to date with any developments (awesome work Riz) and anything pertinent will show up eventually so that you can re-join the discussion.
I flew into the Pliades IH-V system yesterday and when I looked at my system map, there was a big gap where D2 and D3 should have been. I've been to barnacles on both before. Honked the system and 'rediscovered' them.
I'm thinking that when FD update the status of the barnacles it causes some bug that makes the planets look like new territory to us?
Interesting that we are looking at Merope 5C do we have any recordings of the strange sounds? I heard wailing last night (I didn't find any barnys) is there wailing everywhere on the planet?
