Aloha!

Is there any tool on the online Galmaps where I can find all stars within a certain range? Im looking for a star EXACTLY 193.3 LY from Merope. Doing it in the game Galmap is going to take forever...

Not giving any hints, hehe.

Been checking out quite a few of the singing wrecks tonight - but this time I've noticed they have knocking in the background.
Most prominent is the Diamondback.
Is it morse? A cry for help?
Someone is knocking on the hull! ^^

The Condor / Eagle / Sidewinder - you can sometimes hear knocking from these as well, but very low. (The singing variants).
Anyone able to decipher what's going on here?

A Eagle / Condor combo should be ready here in about 10 minutes or so.
I wasn't aware of the knocking, or rather didnt pay attention to it until I found the Diamondback, so there is very little knocking sequences in this one.

Quick & dirty audacity:

Initially thougt it was Morse, but then later there seems to be a couple of simultaneous clanks, so not sure. Havent tried to decode it; might be something trying the dismantle ("eat"?) the wreck?

and of course "they" know our musical notation, write "signs" to translate sounds into numbers. This is so far beyond any logical sense, that I don´t believe "they" are intelligent.

Means: I would not spend a single second on this theory :)

*turns around to the piano.. plays...*

Sorry, I cannot get in front of Sonic Vis or similar tools at the moment (doesn't pay the bills unfortunately) - but which musical notes do the glyphs in the corners of the main image sit on? And do the diagonals span any particular ranges?

I'd think it'd have to be pretty exact to mean anything, so if it looks really fuzzy then it's a dead-end.

Just a thought, that's all, inspired by the fact that the left-hand 'leg' appears to finish, in the y axis, at exactly where the right-hand one starts.

I can't explain how my brain made that potential connection: I have a migraine rught now which does very weird things to normal thought processes.

Yes! :D
I know, I know, I did it only because I was curious if that CMDR was trolling us, and moreover because if I see something new, or that I did not know, I have to try it myself. I don't think that song/music is relevant or useful. The most that it can be is an easter egg, like Braben face in the other spectrogram. ;)

Well done CMDR! I've checked it and I can confirm we have Braben face, Elite logo, Frontier logo, a wireframe Cobra, And SOME MORSE CODE LIKE glyohs on the middle/upper part of the spectrogram.

I'll post them later, I've them on my PC at home.
And YES, the UP does not react while in hold: it needs to be outside to reply. Anyway, I cannot deny that some other result could be obtained with UP in hold, while doing THINGS SOMEWHERE.

OK, thanks for the clarification. No, I wouldn't exoect that, this thing is a probe, so "designed" to find (& presumably respond to) things in space. I think if it's in the cargo hold it will not see the criteria that it needs to trigger a response- both on game theme & software coding grounds. Though I may be wrong .

According to the fine folks over in the discord #chat_science, ^

THERE IS SOMEONE ALIVE

From discord, #chat_science:

How do I rescue the poor sod?

Could be an AI ship so maybe you shouldn't try. Have said before this may be Kerrash's meaning!

Is it just me or is flying around 5C all screwy when it comes to bearings.

fairly sure on earth if I travel at 0 I'm going north and my latitude increases. 5C seems backwards

Here you are: these is the part of the sonogram I've cut to produced the song, I've used two different images. I've not edited them in any way.

While this is the original image posted by the other CMDR: but he edited, filtered and stretched it:

I'm reposting the video again, for clarity:

Thanks. I've been saying for a week that there was meaning to the left hand glyphs; by comparison with the Voyager plaque where the corresponding glyph showed the raster diagram explanation of how to reconstruct the images from the record's audio
nice job, may be more decoding here!

Going to get my ASP and head out there now. Will take me a while. I don't have Palin's special cargo racks though :(

remember when you collect a UA/UP, the ship doesn't take damage for 30 seconds after every jump. if you're quick you can get back to a station before eve loosing 90% integrity.

guys, please... read about musical notes first... its a measurement that mankind has invented. We even have different note-writings between england and germany (H and B), also there are more musical notes than you have keys on a piano, also "between" the keys (arabic/asians).

I rule this out. Or its a bad-luck-while-thinking-moment during invention of the puzzle.

Just want to share my train of thought in case any of you guys spot any clues that i have not seen.

In a very early post MB states it is logical barnacles are found in Nebulae if you think about it.

So in reading the Wilkopedia about nebulae, i think he meant that is because nebulae are star and planet building areas due to dust and gases ect. And also planetary objects, is also included in the description.

Then i saw that Merope is specificlly mention as being on the same spectrum as the Pleiades cluster..

"Beginning in 1864, William Huggins examined the spectra of about 70 nebulae. He found that roughly a third of them had theemission spectrum of a gas. The rest showed a continuous spectrum and thus were thought to consist of a mass of stars.[13][14] A third category was added in 1912 when Vesto Slipher showed that the spectrum of the nebula that surrounded the star Merope matched the spectra of the Pleiadesopen cluster. Thus the nebula radiates by reflected star light."

I am now wondering if the UP spectromap is a clue to another nebulae matching the same spectra.
And if you go deeper and read about Vesto Slipher, you see he associated with Hubble and a lot of complicated stuff appears about Hubbles law and constant.
This picture reminds me of the UP image Key.
