Elite Babysitter...

NPCs are humans too. They are AIs in computer game terms, but... this isn't a game. :D

From a lore perspective, I would like to know why players are in the Pilot's Federation and NPCs aren't, but I guess I'll have to wait for the books for that. :)

Damn it, damn it, damn it Juniper ... get out of my mind you Bene Gesserit witch!:D I thought it was only me that thought like that!!!

p.s. Some of the books are out !!! In fact, some of them are sitting on my Kindle right here next to me. I'm re-reading, Gavin Smith and Stephen Deas's Elite:Wanted at the moment, absolutely nothing in there referencing NPC pilots or PC pilots, it is indeed ... ALL one universe!

Now, get out of my mind you Bene Gesserit witch, can you not see I am reading !!! :p

The book also references countermeasures such as chaff, anti-laser aerosols, and missiles/mines releasing varied sub-munitions, combat drones and LiDAR scanning. In game too now please! :)

:D

I have those three books, but I'm only about 70% through "Docking is Difficult". The other two are waiting, and there's a bunch of Fantastic Books ones via the Kickstarters about to drop. Exciting times. :)

Wow, a difference between a piece of written fiction and an interactive game?! That's... you know, incredible... how is it possible?!

Shush you - books are canon. CANON. :p

Dare I say it but.........................

I am one of the more concerned elite players who is worried that idiots are going to spoil the game hence wanting lots of safty nets put in place.

well

I know it is early days yet (very early days) but, I played for a few hrs tonight, saw a bunch of human players and didnt once get attacked.

fingers crossed I was worrying over nothing ;)

all things considered giving it is a very early beta I think it is running really well actually.

Wow, an actual sci-fi game that has science and fiction in it? One that tries to hold it's player base (no matter how unimaginative) in that imaginary universe? That's ... you know, incredible... how is that possible?! Oh yes?! for some... it's not!

You're misrepresenting the position and your hostility to this thread has been tangible from your first post here.

Those who hold the opposing view to yourself aren't less imaginative. We're still looking for an immersive experience, we're still looking forward to interacting with the NPCs, I'm still looking forward to building my contacts and even developing emotional attachments to my favorite NPCs. I'll still be immersed.

Knowing that one guy is a PC and another is an NPC doesn't break immersion for me. Perhaps I have sufficient imagination to hold both.
