So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I'm turning around. Going to cash in and get prepared for 2.2 :)

Also I need a bigger upgrade in ship jump range and some other tweaks I want to do to make this a little less tedious next time.

You travel 15,000 light years, not see a single mention of a first discovery in 2,000 light years, spot something that would be great to have your name on and guess what... "First Discovered by..."

No reason both cannot be done at the same time. But also, I think a lot of thinking about what it could be has been done. It's just tricky as the hints we have so far paint a strange picture.

(all paraphrased):

- It is not a poi
- It has been present since Gamma (so space based)
- People may have already seen it and not realised
- People working on groups may have more chance of finding it
- Pulling out from stars and taking a look around may lead you to seeing part of it
- It is something the Empire, Federation and back then, GALCOP/INRA did not want people to know about

I could come up with half a dozen ideas that could fit those points, but I would still have to go randomly hunting to prove any of them. Even if that was just on the Gal map (in the case of stellar engineering and re-location ideas).

Hey Saool did you have any luck hunting for those oddly placed ammonia worlds?

Not really. I found a few on the bounce and though it was very odd. But I've seen nothing odd since (although I have found other Ammonia worlds and Earth-likes). Certainly not enough to be anything more than a co-incidence. Also non have had any special descriptions or anything else to make them stand out.

So I don't think that idea is 'it'.

EDIT: That said I am going to go back the that area and have another poke around on my way back, as so far I have been doing pretty linier travel.

As an aside, for folks that believe this is something to do with alignments, The Heart Nebula looks a bit like a giant Stellar Fetus, when viewed from the Soul Nebula, a la 2001 A Space Odyssey.

I don't know if this would be considered odd or not, and it is nothing really to do with the Rift mystery, but I just realised the entire galaxy is ringed by hot, young stars. If you go right out to the edge on the map to where star density drops off to rift like levels, you will struggle to find anything cooler that a G type.

I'm proud to announce that the Children of Raxxla are hosting a joint operation to finally uncover the mystery.
Now that we have EAFOTS as a big hint we have worked on a procedure to explore that sector more profoundly and organized than before. CMDR Jackie Silver shared his knowledge about proc-gen of Sectors with us and helped us to create a spreadsheet that will enable us to distribute and monitor the work on sector-exploration. While we might not be able to explore all >400.000 systems in this sector we will have much better chances to find what is supposedly hidden there.
We invite everybody to join our efforts and sign up for the Formidin Rift Expediton 3302.

Just to add to Eisen's post...

Salomé

CoR have been informed that Salomé herself will be present during one of the patrol weeks (no time frame given as yet) - this is to help with the search but also to commemorate the Children of Raxxla's 1 year anniversary which will coincide with this mission directive.

Tell you what. It would be even better if Salomé could join us here on this forum thread and just share her load with us. You know, just open up and spill it out. I'm sure it would do her some good, you know, ease her conscience and the burden.

Just saying. [noob]

Check my post https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ift-(Part-3)?p=4331123&viewfull=1#post4331123

I went back for a SRV, and now heading there again, almost there. Lone Wolf is with me, and couple of my group friends. Feel free to join, I'm CMDR Dehzz, playing in open.
The mission is to meet up in OOB PHLAI ZL-Y C0 , check the systems in 1000 ly radius and find a route to PHOOE EUHN YD-K D8-0 and surroundings, the furthest stars on my RR line. There may be something hidden out there, unmapped stars that will popup in the navigation or something, who knows.

Thank you CMDR... I'm on my outbound already but I've a way to go - and a job to fit in. I'm about 3k away from Sol and should get there in a couple of evenings.
