Unfortunately there's a large, or at least vocal, segment of of the population here on the forum who have the mindset that if something wasn't in the original, or doesn't fit *their* view of what the game should be, then they don't even want to hear about it, and come up with some of the most ridiculous and ignorant reasons not to add a feature to the game which will most definitely enhance it, or contrive such inane limitations on its implementation that would render it an utter waste of everybodys' time.
I too have spent many hours in combat simulators like DCS & BMS, and thoroughly enjoyed the external camera functionality in those games. And cannot ever think that I've ever experienced any kind of advantage over another player because of them. What I *have* been able to do is admire my aircraft and the scenery around it, and easily take some very nice screenshots and videos.
Elite Dangerous is one of the most stunningly beautiful games I have ever played. That we don't have the tools to take full advantage of that, that various content creators can use to easily create interesting, entertaining and exciting videos of the game as free marketing for it, is ridiculously short-sighted. Ralfidude is a well known Youtuber, who typically makes videos about DCS, though he also creates videos on other titles too, including our own Elite Dangerous. His videos are directly responsible for my becoming interested in, and subsequently spending several hundred dollars on, DCS World and its various modules, and I am most definitely not the only one this is true for. How many more players will be attracted to, and will spend money on, this game, if people such as Ralfidude could more easily make content for it?
