If so then no one from FD is looking at their forums (which we know is not the case). Ever time there is a thread on npc crew or wings there is massive support for it. Now that is not to say FD have to implement every feature we want, but it should make them aware there is a want for those features.
Absolutely. I must admit, I've just been bemused at how the notion has been quite quickly dismissed in streams I've seen previously. I appreciate their keenness to develop the Open aspect of co-op within ship builds, but ultimately as broad usership of Elite goes, pragmatically it will serve a lot less (as cool as it will be), on a day-to-day use. NPC crews help give those ships a feeling of being ships, not simply an extension of the cockpit. Until users can walk, illusions of the ship being more than a cockpit are critical. I very much agree, from what I've seen, it's a very popular course that probably doesn't fit the remit and infrastructure of development originally planned. I wonder if there's been a mis-step presuming on the multiplayer communal aspect being the Elite route, without realising a lot of people enjoy Elite as they've always enjoyed Elite, as a personal escape (not of Open, but of their day-to-day) and aren't looking to interact with others to the degree they envisioned. Maybe, who knows!
Either way, I hope that NPC crews are now on the list. I suspect that if they're not in 2.2, that ground work will be there to do a broader implementation as FDev aren't blind, and I'm sure they "get" where players are at, and where Elite is going (in more than an Open route), so its an issue that requires thought and until it's considered properly, we won't get a good dicussion on it - unless today proves me happily wrong!
And yes, I don't like this forum binary of hater/lover. I felt that yesterday for being rebuked for making an observation on what had been said, while caveating that with a "how I feel with what's been mentioned
so far..."
People have the right to air their feelings about what they're hearing. And if they're sensible, as we all should be, be open to change them as details emerge. Like commenting on trailers. You can say whether a trailer is good/inspires you, without commenting on the film you've not seen.
We need to be able to chat about opinions, concerns, observations and speculation. The only thing I will say is we need to do it on the grounds these are opinions/observations. I think what causes a lot of the rifts is people speaking quantitively, speaking as if their opinions are facts or speak for all. Keep an open mind, and enjoy the speculation - positive or negative!
