We were on the edge of Gamescom when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Chris saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe I should talk about Star Marine..." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the screen was full of what looked like huge jpgs, all swooping and screeching and glitching through the geometry, which was going about 12 frames a second with the resolution down to 720. And a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus! Who let Disco Lando design the booth?"

Most likely the new patch will bring such an amount of features that prompts them into 3.0 directly, just like the 2.0 patch last year brought the Crusader Universe in December after being showcased 2015 Gamescom. Exactly the same iteration but now with "extra extra magic germans" sauce.

Called it.

He's sneering at NMS and Elite now, "we're more interested in creating a universe and a world, we have a lore and a history... its a different approach."

yeah, not delivering a game while claiming to be making four certainly is a novel approach. Sure beats people actually releasing games, all of that rich grey/blue lore about Oldman and Old Man.

Audience cheers. I liked how he mentioned "a lot of talk" about NMS. Oh man he must've been steaming with jealousy.

IMO the way CR talks about NMS and ED is very condescending. I think he should avoid the topic or just say their approach is different, not better. This in a gamedev is very off-putting.

I'll just leave it at that.

Star Citizen is turning into Call of Duty in space with Arena Commander. Just like Star Wars, Call of Duty has a heavy dose of fantasy and space-opera.

He's riffing on the water bottle now. This is where his years with Second City come in handy.

Huge round of applause for netcode refactoring. He gulps. "Still a ways to go..."

Yeah. I'll say.

I don't see how it is condescending it's just reiterating what he said already, they are very different games with different goals in their design.

This is why David Braben should stop praising SC. Chris Roberts' attitude is too arrogant.

If Braben never made Elite, there would not be Wing Commander, Freelancer, SC, Grand Theft Auto etc...
