cheers for tips guys. With advice like this, it's going to be hard to fall back on the excuse of being a "Relative Noob,"

What kind of event is total recall? sounds intriguing.Following a significant logistical exercise (not remotely helped by Bast being in a state of lockdown) I'm now parked at Bast with both The Wedding Anniversary (Asp Explorer) and the Sans Serif (Imperial Courier) race tuned and ready to rock. I'm currently sat in a local bar writing up the rules for Total Recall 2 and hope to run my first atempt at Glorious Bast-erds tomorrow.

Cool! Currently we're reading Sapphire Rose as bedtime reading for our toddler (possibly inappropriate, but w/e. I've never read it before, but my wife has introduced me to all his series in the past couple years, since she read them all as a child. Who's R.E. Feist?R. E. Feist chap, Sephrenia's Quest is from Eddings. I do love my books
His books all seem to be series, from what I've read. The Belgariad seems to be pretty well-known and classic. Five books though. The Elenium is only three, and seems to be quite good so far. I like how he does fantasy in a semi-serious way, with great dialogue, enough jokes for fun, and while the storylines are epic, never quite taking itself TOO seriously.Do love a bit of Feist, and have always meant to peruse the pages of Edding's. Just about finished the Worm Ouroboros (Started off as my book for commuting until it became too interesting not to lose a bigger portion of my life to.).
Really glad this has been extended. I'm only about half way back from Jaques due to RL. A couple of sessions and i'll be at Hart for a solid weekends racing, heating and speeding!
I feel at this point that was the smarter move.I do admire your diligence. I considered that CG for about 0.2 s and then ignored it. Does it feel better if I give you a rep?
I would go for the shields. But I land like a brick.Or, sometimes, like a water melon.
You poor non-bast-erd. I mined 200 tons, decided it wasn't for me and headed home.I don't want to leave Jaques until a) I know if there will be a new CG there and what it will be and realistically b) the mining CG finishes. I'm currently in the top 10% of miners and I am SO bored of mining.
Notes:
- Fireball is way too slow. Doesn't feel right without drive tuning.
- Crater Creator could be faster aswell. Need to visit Felicity and this time take the right Commodities with me.
- Crashing into the Toast rack does not increase station entry speed.
- Don't attempt the Barbeque Challenge with a low emissions power plant.
- Put shields on Fireball or learn how to dock. Or bring Hart Station's Repair service back online.
- Try FSD boost. Maybe.
It is really fast, but might be more expensive with a kitted-out ship. With the Regulation Cobra it's only 33kI'm probably the last one to say anything against lithobraking, but not being able to replace the shock absorbers on your ship (or is that called 'hull'?) after completing a run without visiting a different station is annoying. Maybe I should just use the remlock-method...![]()
Dang. Props cookiehole. Props. But all eyes were on CMDR Cookiehole making his expected entry at the top of the unlimited leaderboard, flying an engineered combination of Crater Creator (iCourier) and Fireball (Hauler) to set an impressive time to beat of 22 minutes and some seconds.
Great, just great. Are they in the same union as the fueling and repair staff? It's going to be even more fun trying to race without docking privileges. Thanks cookiehole. The guys most impressed were the control tower staff at several stations in the Bast region, who are now considering going on strike after Crater Creator achieved the first Blazing docking speeds of the event. Little Nuk noted that with more than a full shield ring remaining after that docking, he's hoping he might see at least a "Spectacular!" docking before the end.
I knew that was his nerfarious plan!!! He should be happy with me, the Flaming Onionhead Express has gone boom 6 times this race. [knocked out](This is a lie, Nuk just wants to see ships go boom!)
I tried Fat Tony! I tried just for you! This is when Little Nuk noticed that Fat Tony had swapped around Talwin's temperature and speed values from the previous run in an unsporting attempt to avoid cell-cleaning duties. This underhand plan failed and since the highest jump temperature is now CMDR Cookiehole's Toasty level temperature in Fireball, it's really starting to look like Tony's going to lose the bet. Tony's still confident though that someone will be able to push their Hotrod Mk III to it's limit without needing to explode.
I know that feel man. The past two days I haven't had any new time, due to interdictions, running out of fuel, having a planet drift into the way of my jump, more interdictions, etc. Only thing I've been able to do is set a new heat record. After numerous runs all running close to forty five minutes I am just about ready to pull my hair out. Too many interdictions and a slow loading rate for everything (dunno if dodgy frame rate, and waiting close to a minute to open my galaxy map is a game or ISP thing, either way :/
Worst groupies EVAR! [down] [mad]Those Pirate "Buckyball Groupies" love to wait by the finish line. Just think of it like the spectators at the Tour de France.![]()
That's so strange that they're all different problems. Also I love that we stretch the game to it's limit and learn about it's construction by racing. I haven't reduced by graphical settings yet, and I'm loathe to because it's running beautifully from an SSD on a 390x, but perhaps if I'm given much trouble I'll give it a try.Slow hyperspace jumps are caused by network/server problems, slow SC dropouts by network/instancing and graphics/... loading times, GalMap and SysMap maybe a combination of both.
I've found low graphics settings to help with SC dropout times in most cases with a small difference for stations and a notable one for planets. Might also affect the GalMap, haven't done too much testing on that as my loading times there are mostly ok.
Huh, I may need to rebind my 75% combo to 50%, good stuff to know. Do you still use that binary 100% and 0% while on final approach? Once I'm within 10Mm I'm tempted to set it to 75% to avoid overshooting. As pretty much the only difference to your tips I don't really use 75% throttle in SC, but mostly 100% (speed and planned overshooting), <100% (when you're already "too fast"), 0% (when deselecting targets) and 50% (best turn rate). In case of gravity braking the throttle in supercruise has only on (100%, "apply power/try to go faster") and off (<100%, "slow down as quickly as the FSD is permitting").
[woah] AW yesss! Are we gonna get us some rock crawling!?I refer you to the race thread for Total Recall 1 ..

.. and to the preliminary banner for Total Recall 2 (which reveals that this time it won't be quite so easy to get 5km away from the settlements I've selected) ..

I'm hoping to dock faster, cook hotter and do better
I try to avoid the toastrack in most cases except for cases where I would miss the slot otherwise, but I often use the inside wall of the letterbox to slow down a bit. Works very well in the Anaconda for example, but gets more difficult the faster you're going.Huh, I may need to rebind my 75% combo to 50%, good stuff to know. - Questions: Have you tried bumping off the toast rack as well? This actually works decently in the Cobra to bleed off some excess speed.
- What...happens...to the low emissions power plant?
- Boost: Not Even Once - Alot (disclaimer, I flagrantly disregard this advice)
Looks like everyone's been having fun. I've submitted two more runs with some slight improvement in times, but I think I'm at my limit now on the Xbox.
So my question is. Is it better to buy Elite direct from Frontier for the PC or go through my Steam account? I know I'll be starting from scratch with a new CMDR. Any pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Fly fast and have fun CMDR's[arrrr]

The base game is not included in the 'normal' Horizons Season Pass, only in the Deluxe Edition. If you're not too much in a hurry I'd wait for the game to be on sale again, iirc I got my second account when 1.5 was much cheaper around last Christmas. The price is the same for both (in the US atm), and I prefer Steam for updates, ease of access, and talking to friends. That's just my preference though.
I have a similar question though. I am looking at getting a second account just for exploration, because it's nice, but I hate missing Buckybubble races on my main account. If I get horizons is the base Elite included? How cheaply can I get a second account?

You Glorious Bast-erd. Well done.I did it all for you Fat Tony, all for you! [arrrr] [noob]![]()
