3.0 is expected for the end of this year...

...so.... StarCitizen will beat EliteDangerous for landing on atmospheric planets i guess...

hmmm hehehe the match is becoming interesting

More false promises, I'll believe it when I see it. So where exactly is Star Marine? That was promised like last year no?

1) There was mention of the time limit you could be on a pad before the pad was freed up for other players. So there will be some system in place to prevent the landing pads filling up after 4 ships
That raises more questions for me about what will actually happen to your ship if that time runs out. I assume that was answered then there as well.

2) I am guessing they would have to wait?
I assume so. That would mean it'd be a technique very similar to some WoW events, which would however be highly unrealistic. I imagine having that super secret bar conversation with that guy and next to the table standing 4 other people waiting for me to be finished and then spamming the mouse button for them to be next.

3) Just like real life, elevator trolls included. -> I wonder if there will be stairs somewhere as an alternative
Yes. Stairs would obviously work. But these elevators they have shown there can not work in multiplayer environments. In multiplayer you can have elevators that go to exactly two locations. But you should not give players control over their operation. Unless of course that whole base is supposed to be instanced. But i doubt that.

4) I would say this will be part of the PG mission Tech, and the location will be not fixed, nor should the exact scenario in terms of location, cargo, number of pirates etc. I note the spoken dialogue deliberately avoided mentioning there details to allow for the briefing to specify the details and allow for change/randomisation of details. C.f a mission USS in ED
5) From above separet instances and the Dragonfly might not be part of the "loot" with randomised mission parameters
6) Spawned on Demand by the mission, C.f a Surface POI in ED
Good catch with the dialog. However I am not sure if that matches what CIG promised in terms of "persistance" if they do implement temporary POIs. In that case the next time you visit the very same location on that planet, there will only be dust instead of a pirate base. Also it'd be interesting what happens if stumble across one the generated pirate bases when exploring that surface. The planet wasn't that huge.
It will be very interesting to see what their approach will be.

By the way I do have a one question about that presentation-demo.....Why the ship is acting identical on the planet as it is in the space?I could not see any difference of gravity impact on the freelancer it was especially stupid when we could see from the elevator on "levski" how the pilot in freelancer rolling his ship in circle like there is no gravity force at all?Any rational explanation for this nonsense?

Planet diameter of 2000km give a surface are of ~50,265,482 km2 doesn't it?

Ok. maybe i was deceived by the speed the ship went down to the planets surface then. The question still remains if CIG will go with temporary POIs just like ED and if they can be seen only by you or by all players.

I'm sure it'd be nice to declare victory now, but you kind of have to release two games first. Makes your sneering at the competition a little more effective when you're actually competing instead of pitting dreams and choreographed stage demos vs. reality.

Stock market traders have a motto. Buy on the Timor, sell on the news.

I've adopted that strategy in my trading and it's where I have made the most money.

SC comparing itself to NMS and ED is that practice in motion. People create their own set of possibilities and those always outshine what is possible in the end.

the presentation was nice especially after backing out of E3, but in no way did it give me more confidence in the project.

To be fair nothing eD showed really tickled my fancy either but I also don't hedge hype on presentations. I use it as an avenue to see what is coming not to fuel hype.

i put a thousand dollars into SC"dream between 2012-2014...AC dropped and couldn't stand the space combat. Sold a few ships on grey market:

Nov 2014 and nowhere near game..:sold a few more.

CR escapist article response sold the rest except a base aurora package.

I bought on rumour and sold on the "news"....made money doing it but I really just wanted to play the game that was advertised back in 2012.

I simply can't subscribe to what they showed at this presentation was the be all end all to silence the SC critics. Those calling it a scam shouldn't be commented on because it's not...it is an avenue for CR and Sandi to be paid really good wages and do their dream jobs...but that's entrepreneurial skills and not a scam.

How many times will that happen in one player's life in the game?
It depends of the type of player and roles they want to play. Many will almost never have a problem with this, other may have to go through this many times.
Don't you think people especially sucky at the game will not be fed up with the escape from prison gameplay after they get captured for the umpteenth time?
If we were in other MMOs the answer to that will be L2P(If you suck and you die you can learn, you will not lose that much with the insurance). If you suck at something, lets say... trading... (I don't know how in this case will affect to being captured but ok), you can hire mercenaries(NPCs or players) to protect you or directly dont go out of the UEE dominion.

Is the same as many other mechanics, running to your corpse or waiting for a respawn, there is no difference for me.
Or do you suggest they start committing suicide as soon as they realise they have no where to run (because the opponent, who is a better player, knows getting them alive will be more profitable).
Why would you care about how much the other person earns? You can destroy your ship, there's that possibility. But suicide? Why? Supposedly you will not lose lifes in this scenarios. At the moment you are incapacitated in 1 minute or maybe less you will appear in other planet to do other stuff, there is no reason whatsoever to kill yourself.

Star Citizen: Avenue For Good Jobs (With Zane Bien & Elwill Bachiller being good example's of that) :D

Some slight changes to cockpits in 2.5
I like how these are tweaked and improved.
Gladius (no surprises here, but still, kinda cool)

Hornet (with the F7A reveal, this wasn't quite expected. very welcome though)

And the subtle surprise: The Gladiator (nicely done up now!)

Now it really feels like we're flying a proper machine!
And by the comments the Khartu too

I know that's a minor complaint but the mission was fine up till that point. It's like CR thinks that the nonsensical drama should be added for the sake of adding it, no cos it makes sense.

Ain't the whole "game" like that? Many things were added just because of rule of cool. Actually the whole SC universe is nothing new or different than what we've already seen in another games or movies. They just copied lots of stuff "that works" from other movies and games and put it into SC. Went with the "proven formula" route.

Also, the flight model looks like it continues to be dog    , from watching that Freelancer move about. The ships feel like they have no mass.

Still, on the hole the GC demo left me feeling slightly optimistic. The game might be a fun diversion when it eventually comes out.

Agree 100% and I'm really annoyed that they're adding all this new stuff without improving what was supposed to be already perfect since day 1.

The actual ship on ship fight was disappointing too.

I can't stand it. Cluttered UI, every enemy ship has too much going on around it (regarding UI), that Freelancer turret was laughable, obscuring the view and half a time he was shooting through the ship, sounds are so bad that I'm not sure if they're just temporary or if this is what they're going with to release.

I also can't see how they can get enough hand crafted stuff completed fast enough.

Can't see it myself either. This was just one mission, one station, one planet and the environments looked so detailed, I just don't see them doing 100 star systems before year 3000.
But Chris is smart, he know how to calm the audience. Remember how he said, during the presentation, what they're showing is an old build, and that they have a new build which is much much better than this one?
The secret build that gives hope ;)

No worries we already have confirmation that the new build will be shown in Citizencon Los Angeles 9th of October, so ~month and a half away.

- New improved PG tech
- Squadron 42 news (probably a live demo)
- Star Marine ??
- More ships [big grin]

Both SC or ED have nothing related with NMS development, has they had open alphas/betas for the players to test their games prior to release.

Yeap you can bet on that.

Still always intriguing to see what they will show next.

I find SC (and ED) to be awfully generic. I wish someone would make a MMO-ish thing with a weirder, more flavourful universe.

If you're going to hold up Star Citizen as an example of how to communicate with the playerbase that allowed the Roberts family to live a lavish lifestyle and made everything they do possible, it'd be nice for them to explain when S42 is coming out and will it be released in 2016 like they claimed after years of claims it'd be out in 2015 or 2014. Waiting till the last minute to say "only kidding, it's actually 2017!" is not exactly a teachable moment.
