I think I detect a slight note of cynicism in this topic.

Lets start with the low hanging fruit though - just being able to request trading data from another station, like we currently do but which is totally useless - just show the actual prices. Simple to do, would have a massive benefit to gameplay, and is entirely consistent with the new magic fairy dust features.
Trading computers et all can come later - just the raw numbers for now in the "Buy market data" screen, would suffice!

because you can't 3D-print data!
you have to purchase the data before hand,
at a station,
and feed it into a 3D printer,
to print a screen
showing that data.
see?
If it's possible to "3D Print" an object as complex as a ship, then why do we have a commodity market? 3D printing would make trading and hauling unnecessary.
Also why do we need Engineers? We could just 3D print a copy of someone else's module.![]()

I agree the "3D print" explanation for Fighter "ammo" is a bit weak,
a better argument would be that the fighter is disassembled into stackable parts and stored in the bays reserve storage,
Kind of like an Iron man suit assembly scene
Explaining why fighters are so weak, they are essentially lego ships
Great point. I'm just going to assume this is what they mean by "3D Printing" from now on. Its most likely used as a term anyone can relate to these days, and its very much a trendy term these days as well.![]()
