I don't think it was OPEN only:
we have at least TWO different sources, see the reddit post linked in the FP.
The first is about a CMDR Kohl found in open who sent COMMS chatter.
The second is a simple INBOX MESSAGE from him, documented with four images made from a phone: I know Photoshop as well as my right hand, and I say that those four images are NOT A FAKE. There's eve the reflex of the CMDR who shot them. Try to fake them yourself, and I'll say it's a fake
What I think is that the INBOX MESSAGE could happen in solo as well. Don't ask my how or why however...
For now, what we have is on the FP for everyone to catch up, fake or not. Later we'll see.
As I already said, the Breaking News are for people to catch up with the thread: the True Gospel is in the other sections of the FP.

Which is very oddly formatted and happens to contain exactly the same text as shown in another set of screen shots of a text chat. Obvious fake is fake.

If it was a fake, I suspect the name would have been correct, rather than part of their full name, as the T-9 had.

Ok, I admit I have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm definitely not a member of Canonn, I'm (luckily) currently about 15 klies out from either Sol or Jaques and I'm following this thread only because the umpteenth collection of pink snowballs is somewhat boring, but:
if the red trader was in fact only visible in one instance (and was rapidly killed off by the rabid mutt crew) and was (or seemed to be) controlled by a FD CMDR, wouldn't it be somewhat sensible to assume that one of the posters from yesterday was actually right and this is in fact a red herring?

Entirely likely. Also entirely likely that it was the same people. When people are that dedicated to trying to trash the game and players enjoyment of it, pretty much anything is possible.

This is the system map for the permit locked system HIP 22182. I don't know if it's relevant or not what with all the accusations flying about, but I thought this might be useful!
There doesn't appear to be any landable planets, and the star is indeed an M class. I bought the exploration data from Scott Orbital in Apademak. Of course, the thing about purchasing exploration data is that it might not include everything in the system!

Well I'm done, this Open Only event is really underwhelming.
on that we can agree, not to mention 99% of players didnt get the inbox message.
Well, rizal, I'm challenging the alpha here, but the reflections can be just an artifact of taking a picture from a camera, of the already modified image in photoshop. They don't add the reflections, 0 skills needed for that, the camera taking the picture does it.
Since there are still some CMDRs here arguing that it was all a hoax, I think I should post this here (and I hope CMDR Phantom Azuma is ok with it)

Then, when we have pictures, we say they are fake.
I think I can say if a picture is fake. Those are not. Anyway, whatever. It's ok.
