I really think that the shipwreck is just what it seems:

A teaser for the things to come. Nothing more. No science to do on it. We'll have to wait 2.2.

However, if someone wants to do science on it he's welcome. It's a good way to let the time pass until the next release.

A good thing could be trying to reconstruct its original shape.

Actually confirmed by MB himself. Few pages back.

Y'all can stop the tinfoil now..

Argh, excactly what i'm dreading the most at the moment too. Sorry for your loss. What i actually wanted you to confirm is that the UP shows all the usual behavior but doesn't stop as usual but keeps moving towards the moon. If anyone is around carrying a UP maybe try to see if that happens for you too.
I can tell you that on the planet it makes the same honks as usual, It can Still emp, and when i blocked It sends the transmission out that relays planet data(I however couldnt get a recording of that cause shenanigans) and either way That UP literally appeared in a minute around its Free floater spawn

Doesn't answer the question of why UA point at merope and UP point at merope 5c? Its not pointing at crashed ship

Wasn't the barnacle on 5c just destroyed? Everyone seems to have assumed that it was the Feds that did it, since there's at least 4 capital ships in system at the moment.

But they're looking for an unknown ship. And we just found one. What if whoever is responsible for UAs and UPs has been looking for the barnacles. And this ship is from that species. They found it, destroyed it (leading to increased Fed presence in the area) and then this ship was downed somehow on the way home.

Still leaves a lot of questions, but it's a plausible series of events...

Another video of the wreckage, with a close up of the "eye"

im waithing for the moment when at the crash site the sentecte "capital class signature detected" can be heard
If Frontier want to remain realism then this has to happen in the next day or two perhaps with a Imp vs Feds CG for the ship and then once complete the ship vanishes with denials it ever existed.

Just read Michael Brookes post and am suprised that they wondered if we would need all the clues, once we could narrow down the system to a handful of candidates and had a way of narrowing down where on the planet to look (the lattitude) it was obvious it would be found in short order.

They really should have just narrowed it down to Pleiades Sector in the last set of clues, the AB part was slightly too much or better yet gven us that it was the pleiades sector on Sunday and then have all the CG's pop up on Monday.

How I would have done it clue wise on Sunday

Kohl - Pleiades Sector, friend lies (dont mention star type)
Dillon - Wrong Star Type (common type) rest of information same
Granger - Same

This would have given us things to work on and some of us would still suspect Dillon)

I would then have had Kohl give us in his next clue that it was a cold moon and lattitude but leave the AB part to Granger

if you take away our tinfoil, we are nothing. NOTHING, i tell you. leave us our tinfoil. lovely lovely tinfoil. my... preciooousss tinfoil *pets tinfoil*

Without tinfoil it is just a static asset. With tinfoil though.. we can fill pages in this forum with just that!

That's a total assumption!
it's an alien ship, but it may not be Thargoids. We've had hints that there will be multiple alien races in ED & this might belong to one of the others

Point taken, but the eye section is distinctly octagonal, and Thargoid ships were almost always described as such. So early evidence would seem to be in favor of.

EDIT: I stand corrected. This is what happens when I look the VERY first thing in the morning before coffee or glasses.

quite - there's no circle being squared here - only more questions. what was this ship doing here? how long has it been there? where are the pilots, or was it autonomous (either 'alive' or remote-controlled)? What caused it to crash? Are these all parts of the same thing?

Who and when will someone come looking for it!?
