The rumour was right...mines are brilliant!

Well, I've just fitted 6 mine launchers and 1 torp launcher in the size 4 slot.

If they follow they get a surprise, if they try to run after a few mines - I turn around and they get another surprise. :)

in what ship?

not all hard points are fit for mines. The front HP on the conda make the mines explode (without damage) on the own shields. I made that mistake. Check your setup in a controlled environment. (Best not in the station)

My keelback armored transport sports 4 mine launchers beautifully.
My other keelback, used for mining, sports 2 just as nicely.
And my Type-7 sports two as well, and yes, they work wonders for dispatching NPC pirates.

I get really amused when they turn desperate and start heaving volleys of dumbfire missiles into the minefields I leave in my wake. Sure, they'll hit one, but I'll have already dropped 4 more.

I'm really amused when I see half their ship come flying in front of me. Too bad they don't leave life pods. Those I'd be glad to turn around and shoot.

I'm currently grinding for credits in an Adder. Whats the best setup for fitting a Mine Launcher? I would assume the medium hard point I have topside would be a good place for one. I currently have a class 2D multi-cannon in that spot.

Mines or Shock Mines?

The people need to know!!

Shock mines will knock small pirates around, but hardly nudge larger ones. I've seen cobra's go tumbling after running into a shock mine salvo, but a python shrugged it off.

On my T-6, I've one standard and one shock.
On my Orca, I've upgraded to class 2 mines, so only normal mines.

I've mounted mines on the lower class 1 slots of my Conda, but ended up removing them when I refitted it for exploration.

Depends on your play style. Me, I'd go a pair of class 1 mines underneath and leave the MC up top.

I was using an Imperial Clipper for missions and trading when I decided to try out mines in response to hearing about their effectiveness, so I replaced all of my weapon mounts with medium mine launchers. Sure, I could easily escape NPC interdictions, but it was more entertaining and profitable to watch their shields and hull drop as they ran into the patterns of mines falling behind me.

I guess that seems balanced with speed. I'm running one of each now. We'll see how that goes.
