The Star Citizen Thread v5

My suspicion is that that Star Citizen will eventually be released and be really good space game, but with a lot of missing features and a few too many bugs. Unfortunately, like some other games I can think of, it will be so doused in expectation and clouded with controversy that nobody will be able to see it for what it is -- just another good game with a few flaws.

No - stellar forge resides on the client and the server, but is generated at runtime, with some manual overrides for things like real star systems, or exoplanets. Most of the server data is for the political, economic and exploration data.

Ahhh, thank you for the clarification! still it's not random :)

I don't understand why there aren't any posts about the SQ42 delay over at RSI/CIG. If David braben announced that a season of ED was going to be delayed by a year or more I'm certain there'd be a thread or two here.

More delay means extra quality...repeat after me...more delay means extra quality...

I'm worried you might read this thread. Worried for your sanity...

Interesting poll on the SC official page about the Flight Mechanics, here are the current results:

link:https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/344150/current-state-of-the-flight-model/p1

And we all know that majority of backers who are daily on that site mostly praise all the work of CR&CIG....and yet somehow seems like they are not overwhelmed with the current FM???

So in other words, if you guys won't correct the glaring inaccuracies of Zeta² Reticuli, it should be possible to hack in, client side? :D

"We're not worthy!"... Wow what did MB do wrong to be sent into the 7th circle of hell? :) Or does he have a parser set up on the forum for "Stellar Forge"?

I think that Stellar Forge is a phenomenal achievement - it puts ELWs in places before they are found by NASA! I'd love to find out more about how it works, I've seen the odd video where DB has talked a bit about it, but I'd like to see something more 'in depth'.

I know we can only land on non-atmosphere planets so far. but we can see the rest from orbit and imagine what it's like down there.

Anyone calling this 'random' just hasn't got a clue.

My enjoyment of Elite Dangerous is not dependent on what Chris Roberts says about it. And the more he talks about Elite Dangerous, the more people who may not have heard about it will hear about it.

Haha, was just about to say a bell goes off on his desk whenever it's mentioned.

The thread is possibly useful if he's having bad dev day. "Could be worse...." he says to himself as he puts his axe away. :)

Never understood individuals that create new accounts so they can rabidly defend "their game" (or in this case, half-gluteus maximus buggy tech demo) on another game forum. You'd think they'd be having so much fun with their "game" that they wouldn't have time for it, let alone even need to do it since the "game" should be able to stand on it's own merits and not require a band of annoying rabid ankle biters constantly yapping about.

Apparently now Star Citizen is "attacking" Elite.... what is going on with the forums here..... the hate is real lol

Hate? Nope. A few ED forum members who were misled by the initial hype and backed SC clearly aren't happy about the amount of effort involved in getting refunds they are legally entitled to, but most of us are here for the comedy value. That and watching cognitive dissonance in action. Along with the Streisand effect and pretty well every other demonstration of just how messed up people can get when getting emotionally attached to imaginary things. How's the 'crucify the anti-Chris Derek Smart' campaign going?

One guy, joined the forums a year ago, 18 posts in total. Posts a thread giving his opinion that SC Devs are listening to FDev player complaints and building their game to eliminate them.
The few replies were either "you are a bit paranoid", or "Shame the wrong set of Devs are listening".

I think you need to re-calibrate your hate-dar...

6 out of 13 posts were supportive of SC (plus one which was a mod closing thread post) - that's some major hate right there!

Many years ago I worked with a guy who kept an axe under his desk. If people messed with the systems he controlled he would charge around the office brandishing his axe. - Thankfully it was an inflatable but it got the point across, of course there were always some who thought it was real!
