for pirates out there, does combat log happen that often? do they log off after you talked to them to ask for their cargo? Do you shoot first?
I've often had little altercations with pirates, and I never lost a trade ship. Was mostly in a T9, not a great runner - but tough. My shields were destroyed just after the interdiction - lag, I don't know. whatever : I complied once or two - gave a bit of my cargo, lost my profit. Nice guy, he told me that I was paying a "tax" and that he would defend me if I called. I liked that kind of mafia roleplay.
Turns out the guy interdicted me every time I passed in the system. the tax was literally every jump haha - no reason for me to keep going. I just high waked on him - and his mighty pre-engineer cutter could do nothing against it. I then changed my route.
So I'm just here to prove a point : yes, piracy often requires participation from your victim. I participate at your piracy because I like it, TBH. If it becomes boring I know I can avoid. The layer's so thin between my escape and my participation though, that you benefit greatly from behaving.
When a guy does not talk, does not interdict me but waits for me near a station so that I'm taken by surprise and mass-locked, starts shooting or ramming - that's unpleasing behaviour and people do not want to play with this kind. It's a game after all - and some players can't stand d o u c h e b a ggery when they see one. I'm compelled to run and switch to solo for the day, never to see you again. You lose playmates.
So, how do you behave when prating? Do you greet? do you do it quickly enough so that the guy know he's up for some real interaction before trying to delog? I've seen a pirate on youtube using macros to write sentences at the push of a button, that seemed to work well.

Yeah! My adder video last night got deleted and the message from the moderation team was "removed for masked swearing to evade the filter"
there was no swearing anywhere in any comment i made. fitting really .

The best part is the second comment was from a MOD listing everything he loved about it! And then I wake up to a sanction and these <not swearing> notifications i cant get rid of

If you watched the video you would see that in it I go solo against a corvette.. Python.. A wing of 5 including combat conda.. and a wing of 6v3.. ALL IN AN ADDER. If that isn't skillful PVP I welcome you to make a video showing more skill and I will defend you when it gets deleted
