Hello Commanders!
For clarity: the reason we are looking at ballpark figures of 5 mins to 100 minutes is two reasons:
* There's an amount of basic logistics in getting a ship booked and loaded onto a bulk freighter, hence a minimum 5 minute delay.
There isn't though, it's a video game. It works instantly right now in your testing build. So this is an arbitrary lore decision that is leading you to make bad gameplay decisions. If you want there to be a delay, consider some other delay. Bulk-shipping freighters that can ship many many ships at once would have to be capital ship sized and would have Warlock drives [edit: or some not-retconned equivalent], so they should be able to jump thousands of lightyears per jump, as in the lore. So the amount of time it would take to go 1000 ly or 300 ly or 1 ly would be about the same.
* We will use a X seconds per light year formula to simulate the speed of a bulk freighter.
Bulk freighters can have Warlock drives [edit: or some not retconned equivalent], since players don't fly them - same as capital ships. So remove the arbitrary "up to over an hour" thing here. If the poll is dominated by the delay people, the least you can do is not choose an arbitrary lore reason to make the decision even more egregious than most were proposing in the other thread.
Ship transfer should never take longer than it would take me to do it myself, you should not punish people for using features or playing the game.
It should never be more fun to log out than to stay logged in, and ship transfers that take longer than the runtime of most feature films makes it more fun to log in, request my transfer, log out, and come back later.
