***POLL NOW CLOSED*** IMPORTANT, OFFICIAL SHIP TRANSFER POLL

Right. I am going to be horribly deprived of the opportunity to buy a hauler with an FSD3A, fly it all the way back to where the other ship is, then sell it immediately, fly the old ship back out, because a game is dead end and shallow if you don't gate any fun behind at least 40 minutes of wasting time.

If you want to waste 40 minutes of your time before playing, get one of those chore boards from kindergartens IMO.

Real-talk for a minute: do the people asking for the time-delay transfer actually keep the pre-flight checklist turned on?

Moving the CMDR as a passenger would have solved that without initiating such a radical paradigm shift.

Would have probably been an acceptable compromise for both camps. Insta-CMDR transport into any owned ship at any station where stored.

I want instant transfer as it is a game and a game to be enjoyed, not traveling all over the place to switch ships wasting hrs of potential entertaining game play. Maybe the poll should be this.

Yes to Instant transfer ( working/student/limited time to play parent etc)
No to Instant transfer ( working/student/limited time to play parent etc)
Yes to Instant transfer ( can play 18 hr a day everyday, I have no job or too rich to need a job/ retired , kept etc )
No to Instant transfer ( can play 18 hr a day everyday, I have no job or too rich to need a job/ retired , kept etc )

also, for the Immershioniteers:

1) if you get blown up, you should float around in an escape pod (potentially for weeks) until some kind soul scoops you up and takes you to a starport, where you have to buy a whole new ship from scratch. Instant insurance-rebuy is immersion breaking.
2) or better yet, if you get blown up you should start from zero, with a new commander in a sidewinder. anything else is immersion breaking
3) It should take you two weeks to get a new engine fitted on your ship
4) refuelling/reloading rockets should take a good few hours
5) You shouldn't be able to instaprint a Ship Launched Fighter. once it's gone, you have to go and buy a new one. Cos immersion.
6) it should take you like 6 years to fly to Jaques. heck, it should take you six years to fly from Earth to Sirius.

The game is already full of shortcuts and gameplay "helpers", how does one more break the game? I just don't understand it at all. Honestly.

Thank you so much for this Sandy. However is there any reason why we can't see how the vote is going in real time? Not wanting to put down the community but without transparency you know someone will call Shenanigans... :(

Ben

I'm guessing that Sandy doesn't want a feedback loop and gaming of the system. A secret ballot is far fairer in this way, as long as the system is transparent after the poll closes.

3. Your personal circumstances are of no consequence to others.

Neither is the immersion of any player who can't wrap his head around instant-transfer without it breaking the game for them.

It's a QOL feature that is use-at-will, not required, yet somehow this little community seems to think it will break a game that is without end-game content, that is without things for players to break, that has only the most minimal of player contact available and only through one or two avenues.

Thank you FD for a wonderful game. Thank you for giving us a vote on this too. I just voted on the sight you provided. I am all for the transfer delay. I love the realism you put in the game. It makes it what it has grown into. I always thought the instant ship transfer was a bad idea whatever the cost. The delayed transfer will make me feel like I'm actually posting a job for a rent a pilot to bring me my ship, quick like bunny.

Trans Galactic Fleet Service Inc. "You need it there. We'll fly it there." Our professional pilots are clean, skilled, ship certified, and courteous. Ask about our security escorts. Not liable for Thargoid attacks. A security deposit will be held against your account for the rebuy insurance cost of your ship.

was against transfer delay.

voted for yes, because the cut in costs and enhanced travel distance makes up for transfer delay (imho)

I was on the fence ever since the feature was announced. In the end I dropped my vote in for delay, even though the other thing would be more convenient. Maybe we could pay a premium for a little faster (not instant) delivery over great distances.

Why won't you make both options viable with a price tag on the transfer depending on distance?

Longer distance = more expensive to instantly transfer.

Let players pick how long they want to wait and let them pay accordingly.

Oh dear. Because, as discussed multiple time in the threadnaught, having magic but only if you can afford it, is still having magic.

Given that the mods have shut down the threadnaught, I see we are going to have the same old points made again (from both sides - this is not a complain about this OP per se).

Unless they've realised, after carefully considering all the genuine concerns raised by the community, that their original decision was just plain wrong. God I wish politicians would have the balls do this occasionally.
This sentiment from someone who would like instant is possibly the most mature reaction in this thread.

In other words, I'm disappointed in you growing up while I wasn't watching. You're far more fun when you're doodling on galaxy maps. [mad]

It means I can't afford to play this game for hours on end on a daily basis. It means that I'm already behind the power curve on everything because I can't devote the same amount of time as other players to master the intricacies of farming for nearly non-existent materials for hours on end just to roll one or two engineer upgrades. It means I have home repairs, cleaning, you know, normal adult things that need to be done before I can even think about sitting down at my computer.

You're certainly not alone in having a job, home, family to deal with - that does not mean that everyone in the same situation should vote for instant transfer though.

Zero gameplay in the rebuy, insurance, cargo loading, plenty when you are in a ship and can play the game, all been answered in the mega thread.

Not a whole lot more gameplay in waiting maybe 10-20 minutes on average for your required ship to be transferred, in a game where it takes some 10+ minutes accept a mission, travel to the destination and start doing whatever you're required to do, where missions are procedurally generated, potentially leaving you without suitable missions for your current ship. not even taking returning and handing in your mission into account, depending on its type.

If this turns out to be Frontier introducing artificial delay with all the other instant things in the game, I'll just call it the tea time delay. Sure, saves me a whole lot of time. Will also have me personally logging out of the game and returning another time, when the game design has taken its time to immerse me. :p

Huh? What!?!?!? I've never wanted instant and I resent the accusation!

I think this ship transfer (not module transfer) should be based on the jump range of the ship you want to transfer.

Let's say you want a combat ship transferred to the Jaques station. ship has a 17ly jump range, 10sec per jump (need to be tested and adjusted), the game would calculate how many jumps would the ship require and how much time it'll take + credit fee ofc. Also it would be GREAT if the ship could be SENT IN ADVANCE, so you have time to get to your new location. it doesn't matter if you arrive before your ship or the ship will be waiting for you.

It adds REALISM and also prevents stupid griefers from instantly hop around the place causing problems everywhere instantly.

I have absolute confidence in you FD ! Don't screw it please. [up]
