A good question is, who will buy future expensions ? All borred guys wanting instant All, or fans liking ED concept and actively playing it ? Turn ED to arcade, and you'll lose passionate players wanting playing this game for years... But it's true you'll gain some casuals players, but how many time they'll stay in ED before switching for the next AAA game ?
If quality of life upgrades make you quit a game, you probably were not much of a fan of the GAME, just whatever internet reputation you can squeeze out of it.
Not to sound pedantic or anything, but this poll should be advertised on the launcher. The amount of players who frequent the forums is a tiny percentage of overall players. This is a big change and therefore should be made clearly visible for people to submit their votes.
They probably mean well, but it is just as common to tuck this kind of change "option" where the usual suspects can repeat how much they hate it.
Subnautica for example had obtuse crafting timers added to the game based on the usual suspects, and it was such a drastically unfun change (in a game with very limited crafting options anyways) that it took a flood of people dusting off official forums accounts, and creating official forums accounts (Because other sources of input meant **** all) to get across that three+ minutes to make a progression item. in a singleplayer game while you twiddled your thumbs in your base because you needed X item to progress, didn't add anything but padding.
The people in favor of long crafting timers meanwhile, compared those disliking it to the mentally and physically handicapped, and the popular response that wasn't just insults was "Just go do something else while you are waiting 90 seconds for bottled water".
Then again, those people were also sad they removed the short lived "if you don't manually pick up some items (but not all of them), it will destroy the item if you try to fabricate another one first."
