Fair enough...not required to like it :)

Can't most surface mined stuff be mined from asteroids? I thought so, though I may be missing something.

I still don't get your combat point though. I have literally decimated a ground installation from above while avoiding missile fire from a Goliath skimmer and then engaging the bases fighter escorts...all while fighting against gravity and getting pelted by AA guns.

Some can. Some cant.
Some can be obtained by missions but that takes 20 times the time to get thqn just going down to surface.

Surface combat now surprises me.
Last time i came to a surface base.
I could not target anything of the ground stuff.
Meaning i could not attack with the ship.
It only became a contact when i switched to srv.

And well.
Ship combat only happens by interdiction or when you attack a base etc.
I am not a criminal and rarely haul near planets so this doesnt happen to me.

What i am talking about would be for example a conflict zone right above the surface.
Ir an res zone with mining skimmers etc.
And attackable ground targets. (Which at least ladt time i tried was not possible)

Guys - we have a large forum for discussing ED. This one is for Star citizen, so please use it for that. Thank you.

Very well...I can't help it when I'm pulled in that direction. I do love ED, after all :p

So...Star Citizen. I didn't see any evidence of high grav or low grav in the gamescom demo. Appeared to be standard 1G as it is on stations and some ships. Is this something that will become a factor in a future version (to be refactored, just getting that out of the way for some of you guys :) )?

Aye we went off rail there a bit i guess.

Well they did mention aerodymanics effects and such.
So i assume they.ll do gravity as well.

I don't think CIG has ever not mentioned anything. They literally say it'll have all features every other game has ever had.

If you aren't skeptical about stuff they say they want to include in the game and, worse, use them in arguments to discuss other games that have already released with features they promised, then buy an Idris.

We are though, he made false claims about a game while referencing SC's development. We disputed the false claim.

lol, yeah "CIG said that first!", CIG say a lot of things. Deliver very very little.

I saw a flame animation when the freelancer hit the atmosphere...sort of like what I've seen in Empyrion Galactic Survival for the past year when transitioning from space to planet. I doubt they'll do much with atmospheric flight modelling considering their current ships won't fly straight due to their designs. It's why they had to implement ghost thrusters in the mustang and other ships else they'd just spin in circles.

Every few months we'll get someone in our TS who comes out of the woodwork to see how things are progressing. It's kind of depressing to hear them talk about things you've forgotten that "sold them" on SC 3 or 4 years ago. Like drop in/out coop in the campaign. Well that's gone. Being able to jump to hundreds of star systems and name things...well we've not heard anything about that in a couple years. PVP/PVE slider....gone. Having to worry about fuel while exploring at normal speeds...now have infinite fuel. Only used for quantum jumps & hyperspace jumps.

I'm shocked at just how little we know about how mechanics like mining, trade, the economy is going to work. Sure we have videos and interviews from 3 years ago about the topic...from people who left CIG nearly 2 years ago. What's changed since then? We don't know. Do they even know? We got this last year when a few of us finally stood up and asked: "How are the ships supposed to fly like?" Then listed off a variety of space games and in return got a document describing different "flight modes". Which still didn't tell us anything.

Well I'll be... a non-sequitur, dripping with referenced ironic humour turns into a seven page sub-loop!

Next time I'll wrap it in "this is a joke designed to get us away from Galaxy Cat asking the same question over and over again to Orlando, which we all knew wouldn't get answered." tags :)

So, wow, a datamined city-scape? Has anyone thrown it into an editor? Did it look like the old "on-rails" landing demo from 2014, or is this new assets?
I expect certain folks will have a field day scouring it for signs of "non-original" artwork...

I presume most ships will fly simply due to thruster power as most ships do not have functional wings (I'm told the "wings" are actually radiators in any case), or aerodynamics.

It looks like a mid 90's early CGI cut scene...

Not only Wngs have Aerodynamics.
And no. They mentioned it during atmospheric flight in the Demonstration on Gamescom.

Some People seriously see Black everywhere.
Flame Animation on entry... lol.
So should they have made it violett so it looks different from usual games and animations for this action?
I assume they stole the reload animation from Counterstrike hmmmm.

God guys. Come down from that trip. Your seeking gremlins there....

Mining and Trading are likely not exactly high on the Demo list.
I expect them to be just as unfinished and just as boring as they were in ED when ED came out.

I do think they dropped the pvp pve option.
If it ever got announced in the first place as i never heard of it.

So what about it?
Seriously guys.
Pls stop with that sad attempt to trashtalk this game to others.

They should get Ferram from KSP to model their ships. I'd be curious to see how they fly.
Someone did do the Hornet (old one) and Avenger on the RSI forums. The results were about what you would expect.

You're still missing the point - the irritation is that it's nothing new but when it was shown at Gamescon to the Faithful they all whooped and hollered like it was the second coming of Jesus

That's what bugs folk. We literally couldn't care how many ideas they lift from other games - everyone does it - but then claiming to be the first and making something totally unique just stands out as a blatant lie.

You should read up more on this game so you can tell when people are trashtalking it or just repeating it's own claims.

I agree, we should instead go around and say that CIG will be worth 2 billion in 2 years [rolleyes]

Are you serious? Do you even read your posts?
You're comparing features SC doesn't even have on a design document yet to features ED has released and you're giving us notes on how to post?

1) Reference to SC not having any roadmap, schedule or deliverables plan that it can be held to account over
2) Dig at a successful released title
3) Attempt at downplaying the significance of CiG quietly removing an important game feature, with no explanation of what will replace it
4) Insulting attempt to direct other poster's behaviour

Point 3 is really significant. If SC instances are going to be PvP only, with no way for owners of large cumbersome ships to avoid the attention of players who only exist to have fun at others' expense... how is that going to work?

A big ship even with LTI is supposed to take longer and longer to replace with each destruction or loss. So a concerted effort by a small and motivated team of jackals could have a serious negative effect on the play experience of a high dollar investor?

Let's not kid ourselves, in an Open PvP environment, players will find any possible loophole to annoy others... Dumbfire spam, point defence decoying, Orca ramming, pad shadowing / grinding. All of which occurred because it "could" within the confines of the game.

If SC remains only one mode, with all player types permanently locked together, it will be a very difficult task for them to balance griefing, crime and punishment, LTI timers, etc

I would love some actual ship combat in gravity for example raid a pirate bas or something in a ravvine on the moon.

There's plenty of that. It's great fun killing enemies by shooting out their thrusters and watching them plummet to the ground and explode.

If pointing out factual things is "trash talking", then it probably says just about everything with regard to Star Citizens development doesn't it?
