Permits ? Why are they even there? i mean what is the point?

Having special missions in permit systems is a blindingly obvious design decision that would add some much needed progression to the game. This progression would not be tied to how big your guns are, or how polite the welcome text is from your mission giver. Therefore, permit systems shall remain largely pointless.

Maybe because only major factions have the power/rights to permit lock their systems? It's hardly a stretch...

So, the so-called independent Pilot's Federation, who are in charge of permit locking the FSD's, are controlled by the Feds and the Imps? Since when?

Permit locks are put in place by the same people that sell the maps used to program the navigation computers: Universal Cartographics. If a superpower or minor faction wants to lock out their system, they apply to UC (presumably by the payment of a large sum of cash) to have their system (or an uninhabited system or sector) permit-locked. UC can also lift such permits if the faction in question fails to pay their bills, as presumably recently happened in Phekda.

Once you've reached Petty Officer in the Fed Aux then you get to visit Sol. Sol is a hand crafted system and is wonderful. It is entirely worth your while to visit it and is both special and meaningful - unless your not interested, in which case - just move on

I took a tour of all the planets when I got my pass and drop in from time to time. Doesn't seem that special to me, and nobody's ever there. And bounty hunting sucks at Jupiter. It takes forever to escape it's gravity.

Just something to do. I kinda want a Van Mannen's Star permit just because they seem like a bunch of froots. Maybe just take missions, then dump their junk into space, lol.

It was my inner space nerd enjoying the system. I visted all the planets, went and found Voyager probes - and generally enjoyed the view!

While grinding away at my rank for the corvette.. I get permits to systems here and there, but why ?

It's not like they are special in a meaningful way or has any real bennefits as far as i can tell.

What is the point ? Shouldnt there be something worth your while there? or did i miss something entirely? ( besides some mirror discounts on some selected stuff. )

I live in a permit system for a reason. It keeps the riff raff out.

Which still begs the questtion, why aren't most, if not all, systems permit locked to keep out intruders? I mean, if all it takes is cash, rich minor factions all over the bubble should be able to lock out whomever they wish and totally avoid being taken over by some outside faction, or even other local factions. The current implentation, IMO, is just illogical. It should pertain to all, or to none.

Maybe it costs A LOT of money?
Maybe UC won't do it without authorisation from Fed/Imp because of politics?
Maybe UC choose not to allow minor factions to lock systems?

There's literally dozens of hypothetical reasons why only the major powers can lock systems. I imagine plenty of which are not a stretch for most...

I decided to work on that too, but haven't found a Sirius Corp station yet. I thought I remember them being at Robigo back in the days. Care to share where you are sourcing their missions?

Sure mate you can find a station and a planet base owned by Sirius Corp in Procyon, can also get missions for Sirius at the other bases in this system.

Another system you can get missions for Sirius is Luyten's Star.

I just realized today, you need to be Allied with Sirius not just friendly, i just hit friendly today.

Cheers
