Nice Idea.
But this aint a Court. And the Escapist is not an Police Officer.
Doesn't matter. It's official and it's a legal statement. As such, it will be used in court.

This is an Fairly Strong Reaction. Which especially to People who Trust them. Will demonstrate. "We are not Scared from an Confrontation".
Those people are irrelevant. The courts and other lawyers are not, and those are the ones they need to actually convince that they've got a leg to stand on. These kinds of outbursts prove the exact opposite, and if anything just digs them deeper into the hole, which is why a competent legal counsel will tell you not to do them. Unless you're already going down, hard, there is nothing good or useful that will come out of that diatribe.

Again, you are simply flat-out wrong about everything you say and you refuse to do any research or even read the research kindly provided to you by other people. You just troll on, without even the slightest attempt at having any kind of civilised conversation — when proven wrong (which you always are, as we've fairly established by now) you just put people on ignore and keep spewing the same wilfully ignorant nonsense.

So you think their Lawyer will put some Logo of CIG on his Letter. But the Support wont ? *gg*
Why would they? And even if they did, why would it even show up on the other end? Any sensible mail client will let you strip that stuff out since it's a potential security hazard.

I don't see it as ignored, he wrote "FD promised planetary landings, they released landings on airless planets, not what they promised but technical correct" it was from memory so not 100% quoted. However it was what was said.

That is misinformation, and if one bothered to actually follow the development and read the information FD release you will see that they clearly said "airless moons and plants first then planets with an atmosphere"

I don't care if i'm on ignore, I want to make newcomers and people who read all this rubbish aware that it is just that, rubbish and plain nonsense.

I didn't either. Sunleader's flippant response just rubbed me the wrong way since he or she went on and on about civilization and hate comments and other trivial unrelated matters. Telling someone on a forum to learn to read is just about as uncivilized a response as a lot of the jokes we post here...but at least ours are funny. If Sunleader felt the post wasn't read and comprehended, Sunleader could have just said that instead of resorting to insulting someone's literacy, a personal attack on someone's character.

It is clear I'm on their ignore list now, as I've asked several pointed questions, on topic. Just as well, conversation with Sunleader is a fool's errand.

Just a reminder that if you quote someone that is ignored then the person that is ignoring sees the post anyway.

That said they mostly don't respond to anything that they have no answer to anyway.

:D

Is there any part of this pre-pre-pre-alpha that's ready for alpha testing? [weird]

[big grin] The music makes it, but the visuals are top notch indeed, very atmospheric.

And I think that's exactly the purpose of alpha builds is to check these kind of bugs and fix them before going live.

I'd thought he showed promise, but his refusal to address key points is telling indeed.

I'd put what I've seen so far more along the lines of a dev build rather than Alpha...but these terms are so nebulous anymore.

3.0 will show us the pace of progress. I can't wait to see for myself.

So they're really going for the bland space-grey design, then? No chance of making it… you know… look good? It's got to be the most monochrome thing I've seen since we got into the brown 360/PS3-era.

And you misread my point. It's not “is this ready to be brought out of alpha” — it's “is this ready to be an alpha?” Even setting aside the massive list of functionality that isn't there yet, to the point where they can't even really cobble together a vertical slice, it just seems they're not even remotely ready to do any proper bug testing yet.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

I rather like the looks of most of the assets. The lighting has been good at several points, as well. Though, that might be more attributed to Cryengine than anything CIG/RSI implemented.

A few more splashes of color and some new and interesting architectural design would be appreciated though...following ages old sci-fi tropes is fine and all, I was just hoping for the "next level"

I'm not impressed by the music at all unfortunately. Some of the voice acting is pretty good - even though it's cheesier than a cheesy thing covered in cheese.

The weapon effects, however, are truly dire.

Sure, but unrelenting and uninspired grey is still unrelenting and uninspired grey. The actual designs look generic as hell, aside from some of the alien stuff, which manage to pull off some suitably silly (and wholly unrealistic) stuff you'd want in a space opera, but that's about it.

But sure, if you think the HK416 is a beautiful rifle, then I'm sure its many knock-offs in SC will seem beautiful too…

I didn't say it was necessarily inspiring.

Personally...I think it looks...fine.

Well an abandoned space station should look dark and grim and imo they accomplished that quite well. The lightning/shadow effects are nice. It's a nice contrast to the active Port Olisar station, GrimHex looks even better. This is not a Blizzard game [big grin] but there is colour if you go to the right places:

Ofc it is ready to be an alpha, this is what a true alpha is in game development, CIG did the right thing in opening the game to the community as early as they did, they have a big amount of players testing the game and because of that they discover more bugs faster, while testing and pushing their network. As its well known some bugs only happen with big server loads/lot's of players doing X or Y at the same time.

I think they are nailing the music tbh. Roberts could have hired any Hollywood composer by now but he is sticking with that portugueser and everything from him has been top quality. One of the favorites:

It's not about it being dark or grim — it's about it being bland and uninspired. This holds true for all their designs, not just the stations. Where's the creativity? The sci-fi? The — to use a much-mangled term — fidelity? There are grey-boxed UT4 levels that feel more lived-in than much of the SC stuff.

No, it really isn't. A true alpha in games is no different from a true alpha in any other software project, and this is not it. It is far too incomplete, on both a design and a coding level, to even be close. Like I said, they haven't even reached a sensible vertical slice milestone yet — true alpha is still very far away. The fact that everything is broken just adds to that: it means they've got some way to go before it's stable enough to form a coherent whole, and the lack of functional patching and bug reporting tools means it's not even ready for proper testing.

It's bland enough to match the graphics, I suppose. Its lack of dynamism is a fair aural equivalent to the monochromatic visuals.

That theme is an orchestral equivalent of fast food - bland, derivatory and completely forgettable few minutes after a consumption. If you want good cheesy orchestral piece from a cheesy SF, try Klendathu Drop.
