anyone managed to play using an X-55?

I can't choose the x55 profile and i'm in a flat spin in game.

I am trying to map X55 via UJR. Star Citizen definitely does NOT support multiple controller devices, existing profiles are broken with yaw on Y axis and roll on twist rudder by default. And I was abused here on the forum not so long ago in the discussion that FD should have updated A1.1 with multiple controller device support for PB as in comparison to ED A1.1 SC AC will feature full support for X55 and have a preset profile.

Moreover I think that SC forcedly takes the first device in "Set up USB game devices" in Windows as the only controller device. In my case it is vJoy, so my joystick is not recognizes by SC.

Multi-crew ships are core gameplay. It doesn't matter if YOU don't want multi-crew ships.

In this case all single person ships should be removed from SC. Why even include them in the game if they are not core gameplay? Make starting ship - Constellation for everyone.

Have not played yet, maybe later today... but going by videos I think it looks very nice! Graphics are shiny... yup graphics looks nice...

But even just watching, I get the arcady feel. Control wise they 'spoke' about joysticks and I think i remember them even mentioning aligning with Saitek or someone to create special joystick for SC (I think they mentioned that on some video months ago)... why bother if it is easier played with m/k? Padlock view...ugh.

Not once in the video fourty6to3 posted did I feel you (the player) were flying. Maybe a little in padlock view... Just a turret in space was mentioned earlier... that is about right. Maybe while playing it will feel better. Not too hopeful at this point though. May be an alpha but I would assume they are pretty much set on their flight mechanics for this.

Wow all that cash for an arcade shooter... my cash as well... Hopefully they have more tricks coming in updates... maybe the FPS side of this is more interesting. I may be playing a space sim on the ground. Land Citizen for me.

Well, its only the start of it, will see, they want feedback on the flight model and all the other tid bits, so the more input you give them, the more things will change.

Like I mentioned earlier, Elite's flight system feels a lot better and the HUD is less cluttered. So hopefully SC makes the right changes given the feedback of other players.

It's been too long since last time there have been any good space games. This is not one of those times where you pick one and bash the other. More like help make both into awesome games so that we get even more of them in the future :).

I think I dropped 70? Not a lot and I was being dramatic. I had that 300 and upgraded to the 300 bounty hunter military version... I think the total wound up at 65 or 70, was a while ago. I checked a week ago, I got my towel! Not sure why...

Actually just looked over the forums at RSI- they seem pretty happy! Yes- it is more mouse and keyboard and more arcady. But from what i read the majority seem to want that... and it is a game for the masses. I prefer joystick and dislike arcady games... but it may not be 'that' bad. I read a few good comments and opinions. Still have to try it myself but will keep an open mind.

Well. I've checked it again.

HUD targeting works in 3PV.

You can select a target

Lock a target

And see the whole thing happening including the HUD lock symbol around the ship you're locked onto.

Just two weeks ago on WMH they went out of their way to say this wasn't the case. Laughed it off in fact. Just dishonesty plain and simple.

Nice strawman.

Single seaters and multi-crew ships are both part of core gameplay.

Sigh, time to download 1d 3h.

ED downloads take less than an hour, so there is quite a contrast there, not that it matters in the great scheme of things.

I am watching a few videos and it does look good, and many people outside of the Elite community will prefer the SC flight model. Me, I think I prefer the ED flight model. It is good they are both different though.

That's not really surprising if you see how easily impressed the crowd at the pax presentation was.

I'm not seeing that on the forums at all. I see people shouted down for providing constructive criticism and militant fanatics blindly telling themselves how great everything is. I thought yesterday was a warzone on the forums, it's one big dividing line now.

Alpha testing of games was always a double-edged sword.
You do get the first glimpse, but you risk not liking it / ruining the whole expectation.
That's why "publisher model" turns out better, alpha testing is not for everyone.

Looks like that is a bug, you should report it on CIG's bug forum. As in 3rd person view you will have no HUD and only be able to see the ship.

Nah the forums are in uproar all over the place

1. Half think hotas is great. the other half think mouse is the way to go. However, soon the mouse users will see how boring, lame and shallow the mouse gameplay is going to get (It will get stale FAST) trust me.

2. Arcadey, everyone and their son is talking about arcadey feeling. This is because the game was designed for mouses. example

Imagine making a ww2 flight simulator with the mouse as the main input. YOu have forward/back and left/right. Where does the rudder go? Bingo, the problem. Now, obviously it's not exactly like my example in SC, but noway can you tell me that the game isin't dumbed down because mouses were involved.

flying in AC is hilariously bad

Really? Can you send a link? I looked thru two threads and everyone seemed happy and joyous about how "AWESOME" and "GREATEST SPACE SIM EVER" it was... real quotes. Then two other threads criticized the 'joystick' issues and both OPs was admonished for it and was told it was for casual gamers.

Admittedly i went over there to feast on the tears of the fallen haha. Kidding. But it is a busy rough day at work, creatively just out of juice- could use some thing to read to get out of the funk I am in.

Okay. .. my very brief foray of about 10 mins. .. and I hated it. Ship felt like it was sliding about on glass, I couldn't hit anything with the flight stick. Switched to mouse and made my first kill... but by then I was sickened of it. I'll have a second proper look when I get back from the gym.

Stick felt laggy but the physics of movement felt very wrong too.

I'd like to point out that I backed Sc first then on a whim backed ED near end of kickstarter. I became enamored with elite on seeing first alpha footage. Elite feels like a spaceship in space. To me SC feels like I'm flying a help in battlefield 3. Hugely disappointed. Yet I love the idea that there could be other people in that ship with me. But as it stands the flight model is not for me

I agree! Just did not come across many that said that. felt it was tilted the other way. most saying it was "AWESOME"... which after watching the videos I find hard to believe... looks okay at best and nice graphics. Which does not make a game for me.

Okay... I really have to get back to work....

I do not agree with your comment. The reason why AC is so bad is not because of the existence of Alpha testing. In contrary. Now they see (or maybe not) that people don't like it and still can fix it. Without Alpha testing SC would almost result in what you got now in AC.

Same was the case for X Rebirth. Alpha/Beta tester already saw the flaws and hoped those would be fixed. They haven't been fixed.

I was reading the AC manual and came accross this in the introduction: "As you play, I challenge you to reflect on how one day something that seems like a long complicated list of separate tasks and instructions, can change into one simple
word — flying. "

Thought about posting this in one of the "Flying/Docking is too hard" threads overhere. Then I played AC and realised it is an appropriate quote for E: D, NOT for AC: the thing you do in AC definitely isn't flying
