The Star Citizen Thread v5

I think it can be paraphrased as 'it doesn't matter what you say I'll love star citizen no matter what.' which is fine though i don't know why we need to know that.
...and why exactly do we all need to know about your deep seated hatred towards CR?

I mean, come on, you're not the only one who can 'paraphrase'.

Yes.

Although it's usually a lot more subtle than that, like ignoring specifics.
It's never very subtle here.

I don't know anything about the MVP.

You are fantasizing if you expect real discussion here that even comes close attempting a modicum of objectivity.

You aren't even trying.

Do you believe that the MVP, shopped around by CR, is something we should treat as a possible reality? Do you understand the ramifications of calling something MVP?

The issue here is that you simply don't understand what an MVP is. Let the dictionary help.

Minimum = the least or smallest amount or quantity possible, attainable, or required.
Viable = capable of working successfully; feasible.
Product = an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale.

By combining the above you get the smallest possible quantity of successfully working game that you've already bought. No matter which way you refactor it that's not a good thing.

Bonus definition

Minimum viable product = link NSFW

Or as a example ED was by definition a MVP. Shocking for some people including myself, at that time. But ED did go a long way.

MVP for SC is not defined..and wasnt planned in the beginning. They wanted to deliver "everything" at their release, icludign 100 systems or so if i remember correctly.

What would happen if Alpha 3.0...is MVP 1.0 that would be a hard crash.

Well, do you want to talk about SC or not? Isn't that the purpose of the thread? When Monk actively tries to talk to you earnestly, you just throw it back in his face?

I'm used to it.

I've tried engaging him several times...there was one glimmer of hope some number of bans ago. I still believe he can have a reasoned conversation. If, at least, for a moment.

I don't believe anyone comes here to talk about SC earnestly.

What you believe doesn't matter.

I don't know if you have paid attention, but I've been out playing in the PU with Mr. Nowak, I'm genuinely interested in seeing this project succeed. You can ask him.

I will not relent on my criticism, however. And when it comes to blind boostering, I'm gonna call it out.

Okay - so at what point do you think it's reasonable to expect properly working netcode in an online multiplayer game nearly 5 years after development started?
At what point do you think it's reasonable to say that full scale development is under way for a game of this magnitude?

Well, how does anyone define 'full-scale'? We have no reference point for this, only Chris's own word that it started in 2011. But I guess if you want 'full-scale', that allows you to shift the definition to whatever you want. So what is your definition?

What does full scale development mean?

Is that, all core features are being worked on? Or does it mean they are staffed and ready to hit the pavement?

So that in the end we can discover it's all down to me being angry with my dad and I drive off into the sunset with Minnie Driver.

2020 - 2025? Pretty much whatever Chris thinks needs it to be depending on whoever he's talking to at the time.

To me - and others it would seem - have working networking code - maybe (don't expect too much!) - to support more than 24 players 5 years after you were sounding off about up to 100 players playing together doesn't sound like progress.

It sounds like one of the first things you should nail down - before shirts and stuff.

Magnitude and scope doesn't come into it - networking is the same regardless.
