Can't view without a login - what's that about?

ETA - I don't actually want to read it - just wondering why it's not public to view.

They don't want to expose how insecure their supporters are. Just a graphic posted and they go in "our ships are better because we can walk around them" "our ships aren't doritos" "our ships are more detailed(???)" "E : D is so boring, it has no gameplay" (yeah, SC is chock full of it) and other asinine nonsense. It's just so bad there, but I guess that's what happens when the only thing available is a couple of missions, two stations and a bunch of bugs.

That's nice have they banned the crazy cultist who was threatening Derek with a broken bottle yet ?.

How is it possible to threaten someone with a broken bottle... through the internet?
I mean, it's not like the bottle is going to come out of your screen, you know... lol
Now seriously, did that really happen?

Haha and this is why they need to remove the controversial tab from their subreddit and why they were campaigning to cliose this thread down (under threat of refund).

It seems there's a large number of SC backers who need safe spaces and are very easily triggered by dissenting opinions questioning the validity of their ridiculous spending habits.

There there cupcake...

As Zetta said, it got moderated to a different forum after not too many replies. Nothing of interest to see anyway, just the usual uninformed nonsense.

Personally, I have no issue with the small "jet fighter" ships in Star Citizen - all that matters to me is the fun factor, which basically means, can I blow stuff up?

I backed and have followed i-novae studios way before they changed the name of their game from Infinity: Quest for Earth to Infinity: Battlescape; when they were still prototyping the Infinity engine. It's the game I wanted (and still want) to be created/released before I learned of Star Citizen and I honestly cannot wait until they open up the pledge upgrade paths so that I can spend just a little bit more to get into their development-alpha.

Problem with Infinity: Battlescape is that all I've seen (same thing with Elite: Dangerous) is that their landable planets are barren. Now don't try to twist what I'm typing here, what both Frontier and i-novae have done is spectacular and all that, but like everyone here is saying those kind of progen have been done before. I have yet to see a game attempt planets with diverse biomes stretched across it's surface. If what CIG is saying will happen at Citizen Con (which I'm attending) and at the fidelity they have been aiming for, it will be the first game that I've seen showcase something like that. This is the reason for hype.

Yeah, let's ignore that that i-novae has nailed surface visual style for Earth like planets and FD has nailed scientific part of it, simulating plates beneath planetary surface, thus making them more believable. Again, full Earth planets is easy to do - to do in a game so it feels fresh, doesn't feel dated, looks good from every angle that's the trick. SC another 'demo' won't do that, and that's biggest issue with it. It is same issue with 'demo' SC started it KS campaign (turned out complete about 'having work done and just need to finish touches'). It is just sales step. It is same thing people accuse AAA publishers about - doing demos to hype up game which turns out to be false.

If I would have to bet my money which will get such planets *first* and *right* my money will be on devs in other companies working on such features for years and not CIG who just chases another sales target for their backers to swallow.

Of course it happened we are discussing the RSI forum after all, screenshots available about 10 pages back.

Crazy people make internet threats all the time, some are crazy enough to then try to carry them out. Sad but true.

https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/347503/star-citizen-elite-dangerous-scale-comparison-chart/p2][/url] I guess I believe when I see it. Even 2D views give some cues of the scale of things when done right, but if the 1st person cockpit on Asp is really as big as the one viewed outside, it's like they made an optical illusion to fool us poor players with no depth perception on our monitors to think it's smaller. It look like....
elite_dangerous_beta_2-27.jpg

And actually is something like...
Asp-cockpit2.jpg

Oversized console, elevated chair and all.

SC cockpits generally don't do that.

IDK, seems like some trickery is happening like using different assets for different perspectives.

Sometimes I wonder.
Sometimes I wonder if thinking, this time, CIG will deliver, they will make good progress and release something of note, something to be proud of, is me just wishful thinking.
Anyway, all that meta reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKMMCPeiQoc - WARNING linked video contains strong language and violence.

Why do I get the feeling that you wouldn't be condoning this sort of inappropriateness if it was aimed at CIG staff...

Now this is interesting

Maybe. I passed the Kotaku UK article along to a friend of mine who works for a successful multiple-studio AAA game developer. I wanted to know what parts were genuinely abnormal--warranting the word "troubling"--and which weren't. The inter-studio bickering and blame throwing fell under the latter category.     's pretty normal, evidently. Some of the "issues" my friend laughed out loud at--"The documentation is out of date? Bugs slow down progress? Often people are left waiting for others to finish work? UNPOSSIBLE!"--and the inter-studio -measuring was one of them.
