If there is any 'absurd negativity' (as opposed to scepticism) it is clearly a response to the absurd level of hyperbole coming from 'citizens'..

Ok, so you admit it exists, and it's a reaction to people being optimistic about a game.
I don't really understand the need to compensate the optimism about a game with this kind of exaggerated negativity, but i undertand people have their absolute right to have their own opinion about a game. But one thing is expressing an opinion, and another one is trying to force people to accept one's opinions as facts and resort to becoming aggressive and offensive if they think otherwise.

There are people here which express their opinions in a respectful way, and they express those as "their opinions", and you can have nice discussions with them. On the other side, there are also people who don't really want to have any kind of discussion. You can't even try to argue with those.

Right now SC is the only game which AIMS to do ALL that. Re-read my post, please.

Perhaps you missed the info about the ambitions of FD for Elite Dangerous.
SC never was the only game.
ED on the other hand is the only game that is very, very playable.

Personally I'm currently quite neutral, mixed with a bit of healthy skepticism, about SC.
If a game is released and the reviews are good I will buy and play SC, just as I have bought and played other games by Chris Roberts.
I did cut all my involvement with the SC project though. I do not even visit the forums anymore.

Is there a free flight thing on this week? I seem to have access to some ships I have not purchased? A Mustang and a Sabre.

Trying out 2.5 at the moment....

So far, 2.5 hours to download, and an hour to configure my Warthog properly.

So what's this about Ortwin allegedly leaving the company? Is there any credible source for this?

The current status appears to be unconfirmed rumour.

If (
and for my money at the moment that's a huge if) it's true that would pretty much signify game over.

Excuse my ignorance but who is Ortwin and why would him leaving be such a bad thing?

Along with CR he's top brass. Shareholder (I think - haven't checked) in all 14 or 15 companies or whatever it is.

I'm sure that it's something really simple like he's taken on so many pro-bono cases for the betterment of critically vulnerable people that he simply does not have the time to assist CIG/RSI/whatever to the fullest extent they deserve. Rather than potentially hold back progress by not being able to give things the full attention they require - perhaps it's better that he withdraw as counsel and any other posts he may hold, for - lets say, a million or two from each position? :D

All for the good of the project, of course :)

That's because of "Galactic Tour's X of the year". For a week everyone gets to try 2 ships, and then vote on which one is the better at X.
This week is about dogfighting. Last week was about the best bomber, with the Gladiator and Retailtor available for everyone to try. The previous week it was about the best combat ship, with the Super Hornet and the Vanguard Warden. The previous one was about the best racer, with the M50 and 350R...

Ah, right so he helped found CIG?

I thought he might have been a key Dev or something. I am sure they would survive a lawyer leaving or am I missing something?
