I heard the coin slot was already there, but after several refactors it was removed because users were able to run into the door and clip through it.

That's not how CiG operate, they've just moved the coin-slot to the inside so you don't see it before the door locks behind you.

I'm sorry, what?!?

You need money to be able to sell something? Something non-physical, I might add?

Well if Voldsmart's stated "2000 whales propping them up" is correct, there will be a bun fight, if scarcity of 1 in 10 availability is accurate. That's half a mill in old money if they sell them all.

I can't believe they're charging people for food and drinks (without allowing them to bring their own). The damn event is paid for by backers already, then they have to pay for an entry ticket and then they have to pay for refreshments... CIG probably put a coin slot on the toilet doors as well.

Compare and contrast with the free Elite Meet events that Frontier have run, with free food and a free bar all night. ;)

Smacksof running out of money and cost saving to me.

CitizenCon 6876 FAQ part#2:
- Don't miss the pinnacle of the show when each name of convention visitors who won't buy a spaceship will be spelled, followed by a "booooooo!" from the public and our team
- There's a charge of 5$ to leave the convention when it ends

Playing "Devil's Advocate", the flip side is if they did use backer's money to feed and water the attendees, there'd be an outcry about wasting money on a marketing event....

They can't win on that one methinks.....

I guess it's just another example of regarding selling JPEGS that's reared it's head again now because it's JPEG sale time!

I'm confused - that's from November 2014 - why is it an issue now, unless to show history of repeated shameless jpeg sales for fundraising?
Genuinely "in the dark" on this.....

OK, I'm now confused as to why it came up today!

Still, even if it was in 2014, it's not a good look.

This $2500 jpeg their selling has a minimum crew of 23! Which is exactly the same FPS you will get when 2 of this things are in combat if you are running SLI Titan Pascals with a 7700k. Seriously do people actually consider how bad the netcode is and has been for the last 3 years before making these investments? Their is absolutely no proof that CIG have the ability to handle the in-game instance sizes they are selling to consumers.

Hmm, it seems as though this was a necro of an old RSI sale, rather than something specifically happening at Citcon?... Maybe it was resurrected to show how they justify $750+ Jpeg sales? After all the Javelin isn't in the alpha yet, two years later?

You are right:) Still it doesn't change the fact that they have sold something that their game engine shows precious little sign of being capable of supporting '2 years ago' .
