They won't without a court case and with a few exceptions the amounts of money involved by most people it's not worth it. It is $10,000 in retainer to get a good ligation firm to file the paper work and it is only going to go up from there. Costs could reach $100,000 pretty easy.

You need to crowdfund that dream.

Sell concept jpegs of the feds carrying boxes of paperwork and data storage from CiG to a plain looking van.

willing enough to risk their money
That's where I twitch though.

How have they 'risked' any money? That rather implies something like a wager or investment where you will get something back if things go well. Here they get nothing, utterly nothing other than less game. The first $45 yes OK that's buying the game - the rest.... it's nothing. If you can earn it in game then the process of doing so should be fun and part of the game for new players so you're missing out on those many hours of play time at the very best

It's not a wager or investment it's just throwing money at a stripper as they flash enticing glimpses of what might lie underneath, and so we wait until all is revealed and we work out whether there's beauty hidden away or it's all been covering up the cracks. Either way nobody gets to touch and nobody got any more than they could have got for just the price of a drink

No idea, but doesn't sound like a big feature implementation patch, most likely bug fixing. Maybe some tweaks to the FM, but there are no "public" patch notes for now.

Any word on when the avacado's will gain access to 2.6? And any news on the new ship, the class, size, or crew?

Thanks for supplying us with facts and tidbits! Keep up the excellent work!

Not for now, with the patch 2.5.1 unreleased, it could take a while.
:(
And any news on the new ship, the class, size, or crew?
There was a post with some info about it a couple of days ago but i can't seem to find it, :(
I only have this:
Some additional info in 10FT*From 10FT* 29 Feb 2016:
Q: Since Corvettes fill a role between capital and sub-capital ships, should we expect the upcoming ship or other Corvettes to be more versatile or more economical?
A: So, you definitely should expect it to be more economical. I don't know if it's more versatile cause to be honest with you the Idris, for the money it packs a punch. It's a mini carrier plus it can go toe to toe with other capital ships, like has massive living quarters and everything like that. We're sorta planning that the proper Corvette we do will be about 100 meters or so and it'll be more focused on… let's put it this way, it's not going to be a massive carrier. Obviously you'll be able to dock a ship and do all the rest of the stuff and certainly can hold it's own fighting some fighters and bigger ships and quite a few of them would cause of problem for a bigger ship like a frigate or a destroyer and all that stuff.
It should also be easier to control and command cause the Idris is just huge, I mean I think you've seen some of the stuff we've shown for it and it's just massive. It's probably not going to be a viable ship for one person to or even one person and a few of his friends to sort of command. The Idris is going to require quite a few players to man it in unison, which I think will be really satisfying once all that happens and definitely some NPCs helping you out. So, the Corvette I think will be just more manageable.
This is the richest source of information we have about the design intent for the Polaris.

  • Not a massive carrier
  • Can dock a ship
  • Can do all the rest of the stuff (Chrisplained)
  • Can win against some fighters and bigger ships
  • Can gang up and kill frigates and destroyers
  • Not as big as an Idris
  • Will need fewer players/very likely to be viable for Solo+NPC crew
Second mention from Forrest Stephan in Jun 13's 10FT*:
So I love the Banu Merchantman, but I'm going to go with another ship. I'm most excited about the Polaris Corvette and I call it a Corvette because it's a Corvette, but it's really just the RSI Polaris. Which is gorgeous, it is big, and like kind of chunky, and kind of slick; It has that well mechanically engineered feel, it's bigger than the Constellation and it's kind of taken my favourite because I love the Constellation, it was my favourite and now this Polaris is super awesome.
But it's still smaller than the Idris so it has kind of the best of both worlds. So it's just a super cool looking ship. It's being art directed by Paul Jones and Nathan over in the UK studio and it's just looking awesome. So I'm super excited to see that enter the pipeline, I cannot wait. It's already getting there so I'm really excited about that.
So, it's deep into the concept preparation but presumably not in the pipeline yet. What do we learn from this?

  • Some devs love it more than the BMM
  • Gorgeous
  • Big
  • Chunky
  • Slick
  • Larger than a Constellation
  • Smaller than an Idris
  • Super cool looking
  • Awesome looking
  • Super exciting
While this is just conjecture, it may be that Forrest is hyped. And he works for CIG.

I will try again to find that thread!

Found it! Some bits on information about it

But some of that info may change so take it with a grain of salt.
Thanks for supplying us with facts and tidbits! Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks :D

So citizencon is just another show. I cant wait to hear "Citizencon will be awesome, we got for Chris that new titanium pole where he can spin around to show of more of grabby hands or item 2.0 we call now while he shows off you new stuff! Playing in the background that super awesome song and flashing lights together with cheese cutscenes from SQ42!"

Okay that has done it..i will not get that image out of my head for a while...

Remember when I said this thread gets quite and calm when the SC booster club has ended their shift gone dark, except for the necessary updates (thanks Rolan!)

"200 Javelins will be made available during this sale for $2,500 each. The proceeds from these ships will go towards allowing us to sell 5,000 basic Aurora backers for new players. Javelin allotments will go up at 6 AM, noon, 6 PM and midnight PST on Friday, November 28 to allow backers from around the world a chance to buy. "

I'm sorry, what?!?

You need money to be able to sell something? Something non-physical, I might add?

So by reading those news....they won't stream 3.0 or SQ42 besides CR presentation. Presentation underlines "work on planets" implying everything they will show will be in 3.0, when we know it won't.

There's one line missing in their FAQ - though it's quite implicit given the article content: "Don't forget your credit card"

Where does this come from?

I can't believe they're charging people for food and drinks (without allowing them to bring their own). The damn event is paid for by backers already, then they have to pay for an entry ticket and then they have to pay for refreshments... CIG probably put a coin slot on the toilet doors as well.

Not everyone here is part of that cult. I think most of the people on my ignore list are though ;)

My hope is that my ignore list doesn't have a capacity, never have I been in a place so eager to use my ignore list. ED attracts all types.

I heard the coin slot was already there, but after several refactors it was removed because users were able to run into the door and clip through it.
