In the end it will all will be our fault when SC fails. Mark my words.

Huh? It's my fault because I've not given them money? Or my fault because they've spent all the money they were given, on an over bloated design?

I think I have an idea why they are allowing the Star Citizen hate thread to go on for so long with so much negativity, harassment all the while shutting down other threads and it has everything to do with the fact that the game is dead in the water.

The mods are very quick to step in on other threads but in the Star Citizen they don't care. So clearly its not because they are lazy or just don't care. Its that they care alot and specifically want attention focused on hating Star Citizen.

The game no longer holds the interest of Braben and execs at Frontier. They are focused on the Planet Coaster game. They don't give a CENSORED about Elite anymore because it isn't making them any money.

Having played Elite myself, the updates are minuscule with a very small team working on minor updates. They game no longer has the scope it did before.

So what does that Star Citizen hate thread do on Frontier? What is its purpose?

To direct hate away from Frontier and its lack of attention to Elite and updates.

If the mods closed down that thread like they do all others, guess who the frustrated elite players would start hating? Frontier itself. They would go after Frontier for broken promises and lack of updates and abandoning the game altogether.

The Star Citizen hate thread serves a useful purpose to Frontier. Because as long as it exists, the misguided and ignorant keep their hate directed at Star Citizen and CIG rather than actually being angry with Frontier for doing jack CENSORED all this time.

Also derek smart will con an idiot or two on those threads to buy into his CENSORED tech demos.

The poster's username says it all.

Oh dear... Why do I get a picture in my head of Morpheus in the dojo, smiling at me and saying "You think that's Beta 2.2 you are playing?" whilst cocking his head slightly to the side...

I'm sure Agony Aunt, Vajero, Jenner and all the other mods who totally ignore this thread and on several occasions lock it for clean-up are all really ignoring it as a mass deflection exercise /facepalm

Anyway, to talk about the game. Capital ship battles will be a doozy, getting 46 Commandos in opposing Javelins, plus all the lower tier heavy fighters and support bombers milling around...

Yeah, it's funny how they think 10-15 people in one thread are enough to draw Elite's playerbase away from criticizing the game.

This ^^

We would rise like an unstoppable (10-15 person tops) horde controlling the forums with the sheer force of our combined wills were it not for this outlet in this thread!

That poster haven't seen Dangerous discussion. Dissing FD is like hourly prayer there.

Yup there are at least 2 or 3 really negatively titled threads, that act as a honeypot for all the anti-FD crowd to keep bumping to make it look like the game is in trouble to a casual observer. "Why so many players leaving ED?" as an example. Back in my day of online CS that would have been re-titled to "Player conjecture about player numbers" and left to wither.

Elite updates actually downgrades confirmed! Game is getting smaller, less to do all the time.

A twenty-three person minimum crew really is amazing - seriously fans what happens when you're mid mission and five of those people's net connection drops?

What's the plan - what happens to the ship - surely there should be a solid gold answer to this years after it must have come up as an issue?

Idris is history, it's "buy a Javelin" now...

That gets my vote.

Plus there is a lot more room for juvenille inyourendo - including but not limited to;

Who wants a ride on my Javelin?

Anyone know anywhere I can park my Javelin?

I need someone to help me handle my Javelin!

etc.

Can I ram you with my Javelin? *wink wink*

80 people in a Javelin will not break the game because there is no game, the alpha thing that does exist is already broken and even if it wasn't there is no Javelin to put in it.

If that was true, then FD is also conspiring against themselves by allowing debate and outright criticism about the following ED topics:

x) Offline mode
x) Steam keys
x) Ship transfer times
x) FSD boost
...and many other issues which the community was very much going against the plans of Frontier Developments.

And I'm glad FD allows criticisms on their forums. Although exhausting for them, I believe it's ultimately going to work in their favor. Group Think is a dangerous thing for a creative company.

I agree, as much as i dont like the overnegativity about some stuff, i am glad that we have it. Toxic is also a "everything is awesome, happy place with sugarrivers and honey raining" and atleast not many people argue with "having faith" in FD to make ED good ect.

The main reason I stopped posting on the SC forums is precisely this.

They are seem more heavy handed to SC criticism than is necessary and it just kind of put me off posting as I am more interested in an honest discussion of all aspects and viewpoints, but it seemed fairly clear to me after a while that CIG were treating their own forums simply as an extension of their marketing as opposed to a place to freely discuss Star Citizen.

I like the fact that FDev freely allows people to say what they want about Elite and, for that matter, Star Citizen. That Reddit thread posted earlier is the logical end to the community culture that CIG have fostered over the years. People complaining that someone is saying something they dont like on another forum ... about a computer game. :S

So this thread is talking about that thread which is talking about this thread...citizencon must be soon! I was hoping there might be some kind of buzzword sweepstake...

Offline mode (lack of) is one of those items that still annoys me personally, simply from a selfish point of view, as I spend quite a lot of my spare time away from an internet connection, in an area with zero mobile phone coverage - so I am simply not able to play the game (apart from the combat demo missions). It's not the end of the world though.... :D

Criticism with FD works. It doesn't always convince FD to make changes, but following discussions are best I have seen about game development. It has given so much. I admit I am useless because I can't provide criticism like some other people can, who have no issue to go after stuff FD have put work into and tear into pieces - just to offer potential new way to do it. And while sometimes it is harsh, it works.

To be fair, I have too little information to understand how it works with SC community. It feels though that criticism there is being frown upon a bit, especially more fundamental one (how marketing is done, time taken for development, etc.). Also if any recent discussions are evidence there's very little feedback loop between
