What amuses me is people planning their imminent PC builds around Star Citizen, as though we won't be several generations of CPU/GPU down the road by the time that's a relevant factor.
I'm surprised they didn't use a Titan in the demo rig. Maybe they couldn't afford one.

The fact that you think that Roberts is a sort of hero, and "helped these games to be funded" is a total inversion of the reality. Wasn't by his attitude along the last years, probably those games would receive a lot more funds.
I never said that people said that "an editor can't be done". I challenge you to quote me saying that. But you indeed tried to dismiss opinions, speculation and make yours sound as facts, instead your own opinion/speculation.
What i said is that having entire planets with that level of detail being built on a quick way and running in-engine on real time, that is what people said "can't be done". And CIG proved them wrong with that video of the editor. If you read the posts you would have understood that. Neither i was wrong, nor it was a silly thing. It looks like you just misread it.
So you should just admit that you misread it and move on.
It is good question why I am keeping reading this thread. Yes, I will admit, when SC Kickstarter turned up just before ED Kickstarter I thought it will be end of Elite. But there were enough people to buy into ED pitch from FD.
Fast forward - SC keeps sucking up hype, attention while keep staying buggy, glitchy, no show demonstration of potential. I am BORED by project itself. Some technical parts of it interests me - flight model, I like ship internals (although there's close to no gameplay around them), aaaaand basically that's it. Generic FPS, which is jerky. Nothing definite. Nothing exciting.
I am here because I find it fascinating why people keep buying into this.
I can actually remember posts on this forum and the Star Citizen sub-reddit where people were buying PCs around Star Citizen in 2013. I'm sure a few PCs were bought in anticipation of the Hangar module launch.
Like ED did in a livestream showing of several planets they generated?![]()
It would be stupid to deny that SC project is big on dreams. As long as people are understanding it, why not. Drama and toxicity however is something I don't admire.Drama and dreams. The staples of Star Citizen's momentum.
That other guy didn`t even need kickstarter money but in fact used it to probe the market - completely negating the whole point of it by doing so. Should we talk about that too?
Er, but that was Roberts' plan too. He needed the Kickstarter to gauge interest then claimed he would have 20 million in investor funding or somesuch, but because it was so fun to collect money from people with no strings attached, he continued doing that for an additional 4 years. Instead of? Who knows, we're not privy to their financial workings and it's perfectly possible CIG took investor funding as well.
Good luck trying to make a case Frontier somehow abused crowdfunding compared to the obscene spectacle that is $750 jpeg sales 2 years after the game was supposed to be released.

Probably posted pages back in this thread, but damn it looks amazing.
I really hope that atmospheric landings will come to Elite soon, so we get bright blue skies for a change, instead of all that darkness![]()
Is there any way to check which ships are on sale right now?

Free to fly until Monday isn't it?
It indeed looks amazing. They must polish it a bit more, but i won't deny that i was mind blown when i saw it.
No free-fly as far as I know, but, all ships are available to backers until 17th. I'm just wondering if current funding figures are due to the Polaris sale, or if there is something else.
