It indeed looks amazing. They must polish it a bit more, the trees had a bit of popping, but i won't deny that i was mind blown when i saw it.

CIG are excellent at impressive demos, not at making a playable game. If they can't get the basics working, then why be excited about this?

Any thoughts on that rumour the devs have ordered Xbox Scorpio consoles?

Considering state of SQ42 and SC, they won't see releases on consoles any time soon. Devs can order kits as much as they want...they aren't denied just because they are exclusive PC producers.

As far as I remember CIG had PS4 dev kit too.

I'll tell you a secret: The demo was about the planets v2.

I am curious. Could you link all your comments made online related to the Gamescom presentation where they shown Star Marine, the real gameplay, two-weeks to be released, that I just posted? I am interested to see what were your answers to the naysayers by that time and how you and RSI proven all them wrong.

They've already fleeced (or tried to fleece) :

Space game fans
FPS fans
MMO fans
Farming micro-transaction fans
Tamagotchi virtual pet fans
Second lifers
Shopping enthusiasts
Frank Herbert fans
Star Wars fans

Now they're after the console market.

Checks out. It was also genuine Roberts preferred choice of controller when he "played" his own game (with hilarious unintended results).

So what was the point of the Dune sandworm, then?

I guess they did that for the sake of doing it. It looked very cool anyway, and i liked that.
However, if there will be sandworms on the final game or not... no idea about that. The Dune guys don't like people using stuff similar to their copyrighted stuff, so it's possible that the worms end up being removed from the final game, or changed beyond recognition.

I'll tell you a not so secret mate.

This planetary tech is a very very small part of this whole project. A very small part indeed.

I'd wager people are much more interested in seeing gameplay over shiny planet graphics which makes up a very small part of the whole especially in a you know...space game.

But then CE is probably made for this sort of thing so it's looks nice enough. Unlike that whole inconvenient space game stuff and gameplay. So doing this stuff for the last few conventions is a sort of an easy win for them. Gameplay seems to be eluding them though.

I understand you, but you can't showcase the gameplay until you got the AI stuff finished. I'm pretty confident there is a bunch of people at CIG working on the AI stuff right now.

I mean some people really getting impresed so easy these days......Again that staged demo was good and that´s all it will be excellent if we are in the 2013 but we ain´t.....I will be 100x more excited if CIG show us some smaller map with many flyable(20-30) ships in the same instance where actual players piloting those or fighting Vs eachother or doing mining, trading, bounty hunting...etc....even if they are just in some unfinished phase but it is working...that will be real progress in my eyes,or at least if I saw some major FM changes....but nah....we saw again tech demo + this time CR&CO avoid to even give any dates about future updates&releases.....just rubish....more commercials&demos...
