Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Maybe FD don't want us to find it yet? After all they might be wanting to release some patches first and make sure 2.2 is fully working before the brings in something mysterious related.....

I already found out that the planet is roughly on the other side of it's orbit around the brown dwarf to where it was in the video, also the moon's orbit is almost vertical to that.
I'm having a hard time finding any way to narrow down the search area...

I just arrived in the system. Probably best that we form a systematic search party and skim the surface a few degrees each :D :p

In a procgen galaxy of 400 billion stars with only so many variables.. How likely do you think it is that you will find a brown planet with a brown moon orbiting a brown dwarf? Fairly high actually.

Im not saying dont search. But the science says you guys have the wrong planet.

Care to share where you think we should be looking?? We've had nothing for a month or two now and we get one flicker of hope and people just dismiss it, its science we're searching and its a pretty good match tbh. And why not look, naff all else to do. So please why so dismissive?? Who cares if there isn't here, its something to do and it's not as if it's just whim tbf

The system was found by lining up the Andromeda Galaxy with the Pleiades Nebula as it was shown in the trailer.
I didn't just stumble across this system. I triangulated it based on the prominent features in the galaxy backdrop.

Now it just so happens that the bodies in this system, specifically the moon there, also match up exactly to what we saw in the trailer.
This is the system. There is no doubt about.

You have simply not been paying attention to thread, and EDs development in general. Their procedural tech is highly advanced(taking in actually scientific data on how planets form) and it would be highly unlikely for it to create the same planet twice.

agreed, so then the tidal lock HAS to be broken?

Another thing, I asked a question during the launch day live stream about whether Cannon will have more interesting and wonderful puzzles to solve and his reply was something along the lines of "you're assuming you have already solved the ones you know about" I will find a link...

EDIT: Here it is!

https://youtu.be/9wZvsPerJD4
The pertinent part is at around 1:17:00. It is not a very promising comment from Michael, I must say:

ED: "Will there be some interesting puzzles for Canonn Research to get involved in?"

Michael: "Aaahh...yeeeees...."

ED: "But isn't there always?"

Michael: "There's always something, and that's always supposing that the ones that are already out there have been fully solved."
Michael: "I think for 2.2 we've certainly focused more on the new content for explorers to discover."

So, it looks like
a)The UA-, UP-, and Barnacles-mysteries, or parts thereof, haven't been fully solved yet. And it looks like we need to solve those first
b)Most of the stuff to find is not inside the bubble, by his "explorer" comment.

Earlier on in the video he talked about evolving lore, and he mentioned having to bring some things to some place that would unlock something else, which would expand on the Lore. I believe that is what the ruins are for. They will unlock something about the Lore, but not necessarily something science like Canonn dwelves in. I may be wrong though.

I don't know why, but the way Michael was dragging his "yes" for new stuff, doesn't make me hopeful unfortunately :(

Been driving around about 20 planets at jaques referring to the content for "explorers" and ive found nothing but rocks x 1000. So far i havent seen any other reports from the usually silent majority so if this content is out there its a hundred needle in a haystack, what frontier also need to do is expand on regular content ( more variety of rocks and materials, some naturally occouring gold, silver etc to find)

Even the organic life could have some potential interactivity ( perhaps a biological scanner yeah something simillar to no mans sky) but for now it could generate points of intel and data *not animals but the meta alloy type plant life on lifeless worlds*

Gysers should also have ice and water products i can mine ( srv hold or some form of planetary collector limpet so my ship can hover and scoop remotely would tie in well)

Theres potential there but the rush to get new things out the door i fear will take priority

Good thinking. Hopefully with the release of 2.2 things start getting very interesting.

Months? The patch has been out two days. I already gave my theory a few pages back.

I find it amusing you think I havent been paying attention to this thread. Just because you think you found something that looks like the trailer and trianguled the things in, does not mean it is the system. The tidal lock may be broken so it may be it. But until you find something.. You do not KNOW you are in the right place.

Could there be a better way to go about this than just flying over the surface?
Fdev has always kept the science sound in most aspects of the game. So if anyone built anything on this barren planet logically I would think they built it somewhere where they lived or a location that holds some sort of geographic or astrological significance. Been checking out all the big craters but all I keep finding is big crater with mountain in the center.

As in before the patch, all the UP business. This thread has been pretty dead since all that happened. Just saying the system and planet in question is a hell of a good match and its better than nothing. And I might add you don't know we're not in the right place either. It's fun, its something to do and there plenty of CMDRs here so it's kinda social as well.

Of note.. Id like to point out that I'm one of the resident skeptics around here. I will constantly poke holes in people's theories. Not to discourage but to encourage you to pay attention to why NOT as much as why. Too many theories have gone off the deep end because people found something that might be a lead and then ran with it without paying attention to all of the facts. This does not mean that you should not search. Far from it. Search. But pay attention to all of your data. It only takes one hole to sink a boat.

What about the friendly quavering ping of the bioscanner in Alien(s)? That should keep us on our toes, even if the ping is just returning from an algae mat.
