All things Frontier Developments at E3 2014!

I could have sworn that I saw somewhere that Elite Dangerous was gonna have a showing on the Gamespot Stage Show on the first day of E3 but it's not been on today and according to their website (see here http://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2014-pc-games-announced-demonstrated-or-detailed/1100-6420109/), they are not even classed as being at E3. It does say that list is not definitive but I would have thought that if the game was part of their stage show, they would have known it was being showed at E3 don't you think?

EDIT - Ha read it again and now i see it in the list, how did I miss that?

It's Gamespot :(

They only remember their own name because people shout it at them all day!

Yea I'm with you there, only time I look at their website is during E3 cause it's about the best place to get all the new info. Other than that I care so little about their opinion on games.

I don't think you can make that statement until you have seen the actual gameplay. And no the Arena Commander module is not the actual gameplay.

Well yes it is obviously the flight model I'm talking about, which is obviously nothing like what is shown in their trailers. I've played it. Star Wars style trailer flying, arcade style in AC.

The first day was great fun, but knackering... And that was with doors open at 12:00. Tomorrow will be from 9 :D

Phrase of the day "that's bonkers cool!" Everyone so far has been very impressed

New station in the E3 build - as flown to by Gwen!

My biggest question now would be - since there are new stations in E3 build, have they inserted new starsystems to play?

I thought this too. It seems to be lacking the graphical effect that gives terrain shadows to the cloud layers (bump mapping?)
I am glad if they have got rid of it because although it is 'grafix effectsy', I actually don't like the look of it and oddly it makes the planets seem small to see that level of contouring from a distance.

And yeah, the people! Brilliant! Gives a more definitive sense of scale!
Sense of scale also seems enhanced here and there by possible use of a wider virtual lense? Slightly more perspective distortion makes things seem bigger!

Have watched it again (several times) on a bigger screen and I'm not so sure anymore. Tricky to make a judgment since the trailer is put together with clips from different builds of the game. But, yes, maybe the normalmapping has been scaled back somewhat...this would be so much easier if I could test it out myself FD!

They could just as easily have replaced one of the old ones or just added this around another planet in some system.

Personally I hope this is the case so they can test out the improvements to the netcode that is coming against a similar environment.
