Allright, did some research of my own and I'll share what I found out:
1. Commodities (not materials) to be found:
- Ancient relic -> Drops when shooting at "antenna/monolith" tower
- Ancient totem -> Found around the site
- Ancient orb -> Found around the site
- Ancient container -> Found around the site (I may be wrong about the name here, cannot remember it exactly, as I lost my SRV along the way - damn oxygen)
2. Scanning obelisks:
- Each scan yields "Pattern XXX Obelisk Data" material data type
- XXX is anthing from the list [ALPHA, BETA, DELTA, EPSILON, GAMMA] (did not find anything more than that)
- Patterns reset after relog (had a crash and had to restart game, the pattern from the same exact obelisk changed)
3. Some research:
First: I started mapping which patterns I get from each obelisk group. Then I realized the patterns change after relog.
Second: I scanned the whole site, got patterns ranging from ALPHA to GAMMA
Third: I started recording patterns before scanning to see if the triangular animated symbols correspond with patterns found. The video is below:
https://youtu.be/woiTTxOPRqw
I tried to align everything to the start of obelisk "ping". They go bright, then dark again. I tried to align the dark points as the start of the section. It's not perfect but you can see some repeating patterns.
My theory is that each row of symbols corresponds with one (more?) of the patterns found. Also, different combinations of symbols change the sequence of the triangle animations.
Here's what I noticed:
First two (ALPHA, ALPHA/EPSILON) seem to be the same or similar enough.
Last two (EPSILON/GAMMA, EPSILON) seem to be similar enough.
I can't really find a common symbol stack for the middle two (EPSILON, EPSILON/ALPHA).
This
may be due to me synchronising badly but I'm still posting this. Maybe someone will have an idea or find some common element. Please help
proving or
disproving the theory.
Thanks.
P.S. I have the source videos if someone wants to analyze frame-by-frame.
