The Return of 1k Delivery Missions

But still, Poop missions gave level payouts. Shipping poop 300Ly for TENS OF MILLIONS??? JUST.... WHY? They needed to be batted into oblivion, IMO.

Sure, I'll take your poop but it's going to cost you!

Never understood why any kind of biowaste wasn't just ejected into the nearest star, if disposal is required. Conspiracy Theory: Biowaste is being sought for bio-weapons research and someone is will to pay big for it. Of course that's kind of stupid as you'd attract the attention of lot of folks wondering why you are willing to pay so much for garbage.

You ever check the the destination of most of the biowaste missions? Agricultural stations. It actually makes a lot of sense as soil and fertilizer are not exactly found in free ranging clouds floating in the vacuum or anything. So they pay other stations for their biological biproducts and use them in their agricultural industries, mainly the large scale growing of crops and other plants in the otherwise biomass devoid vacuum of space. Its probably a heck of a lot cheaper than sending ships down to planetary surfaces to harvest the stuff and bring it back. Thats if there is any kind of life sustaining planet in the system, which usually there isn't.

This is the future, and everything has a use. Haven't you ever seen The Martian?

Actually, no! But I get the reference. Given the number of worlds and area of land involved I would expect it to be in short supply in terraforming projects. Agricultural worlds would need it as well given the number of mouths to feed in the galaxy.

man... indeed missions pay dimes now. "haul non lethal weapons for civil war" to get 5000 credits at rank merchant and reputation allied.

was this nerf to 'encourage' players to ferry passengers or something...

Just the mission database metrics balancing, same thing happened after 2.1, should br right in a few days

Dynamicbob, I sincerely hope you are right!

I love the cargo missions. I could complete a handful of long distance (200 Ly or so) haulage missions in a couple of hours a night and make 3-6 million credits each night. Simply hauling the same cargo without the mission might (if I was lucky) earn me 500k credits, or about 10% of that amount. I do that for a few weeks, then my plan was to go out exploring (for minimal to zero income) for a couple of weeks.

I don't enjoy smuggling (although I understand from the comments here rewards for those missions were also slashed), and carting slaves or specific rares isn't really what I want. I recognize that they are options, but none really pay off very well without huge time investments. Long distance passenger trips going 6000 Ly or so might take me a week or more to complete for 10M credits, which is still a fraction of what I made with haulage missions- and I'm not even sure I'll enjoy that.

I get that it is Frontier's game to change- but a factor of ten alteration of something that was never described as critically out of balance seems really wacky to me. And if it remains this way it will severely hamper my enjoyment of the game.

Fingers crossed that Dynamicbob's greater experience here in Elite is revealing the truth :)

Well, if they did that to force me to do passenger missions this won't turn out as they expect.
I might do passenger missions when I'm interested in it, but not when they decide I should do some.

I was really looking forward to 2.2, now I've not other choice than stop playing this game and come back from time to time to see if things have changed.
Someone should tell the "Game Mechanics gurus" of FD that most of us here (you know the clients) are more than 8 years old...

Too bad really

I'm at the Walter Dock CG and I see a mission hauling 6 units of beer 12.69 LY for 958 cr. There are a few that pay better but they are hostage retrieval and some skimmer missions.

Some of the passenger missions do pay better but not by a large amount from what I'm seeing now, maybe after a refresh. There is a passenger mission paying over 7 mil but that's 6100 ly to the scanning site

I've been in now, and I think it's a bug... In any case, I have found what I was looking for, have 27ly on my Python... and I'm gone. I just hope they fix the White Dwarf (jump in to the cone) bug before I meet my first one...

Well spotted, Commander!

Re: the OP - Glad to hear that this is prolly a bug. :)

My theory was that biowaste canisters were perfect for smugglers because no customs inspector would willingly open one up and dig through it. Those mission-specific canisters may have been labeled 'biowaste', but who knows what else was tucked away in there?

There's an issue with delivery mission rewards that is being investigated.

Michael

Any chance of an update on this for a re-balance patch? My trade level is Broker and all I'm seeing is missions for a few thousand credits max, even though my standing with the faction is good.

I understand a re-balance for stupid levels of income, but this is from the sublime to the ridiculous Michael. I'd literally have to do thousands of trade missions to cover 1 re-buy, no dice.

Got no chance to fire up game yet.

So the missions is still not fixed with last patch? The description in in patch notes was a bit vague about it.

If not then don't think will fire up this game this weekend at all till it get fixed with al others bugs wich come in 2.2

Was this not fixed in yesterdays Upgrade? I must admit i have not been in the missions to see otherwise?

Don't think so. Last night, with allied factions, I was offered rewards like 412cr proposed for hauling 80t of goods. I sadly had to decline the generous offer and ferried 16 economy passengers with no requirements 2 jumps away instead. For 650k.
