Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I may have discovered something.

About 700m up from the site. I was listening to the sounds it makes when your near it. And from what i hear. there is some form of chittering, chirping, clicking whatever it sounds like to you.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzRSnoWGeARTaTg3RWN5VVlRX1E

Im not sure what it is. So i slowed it down.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzRSnoWGeARTaUZvODA5QVFUcTg

What do you guys think?

Look, i don't want to be the guy who always hears morse everywhere, but it does sound a lot like morse.
I'm unable to figure out exactly how many clicks are there but if this is morse it can be one of those 4 depending on the amount of symbols
1. .... .-.. = HL
2. .... .-... = H<AS>
3. ... .-... = S<AS>
4. ... .-.. = SL
However since there are only 2-3 letters in this i think this is just a dead end, unless of course, there is some crazy meta reference here that i'm simply not seeing.

With "over 30 people" (as someone else posted) looking for the second site on moon 3A of Col 173 Sector KY-Q d5-47, at what point do we decide that the second site may not actually be there anymore?

Iirc, the "second" site was actually shown in an earlier clip than the trailer used to triangulate the first site. Maybe FD decided to move the site, possibly because Col 173 Sector KY-Q d5-47 was discovered before the release of 2.2.
Unfortunately, I'm leaning this way. The comparison shot between the elite meet trailer and the first site is identical down to the ruined walls.
Meaning FDev either moved the site or did a copy paste job.

I still think it is a good idea to look over the system anyways. Just to be sure.

Anyone tried to shoot the blue crystals in the scan points (the towers that rise from the ground). They do make quite a light show when you shoot at them. Perhaps every shot in one of them activates a different monolith. I saw one of the streamers shooting at the crystals and they do make quite a spectacular glow when hit. No idea if this changes the active monolith in one of the sites...

Yeah, it knocks them down so you can pick them up. They are the Ancient Relics.

Hi guys
Here is a video of the clock under the ruin (saw it on reddit)

For me, its look like a conjonction timer...

[...]

When I first found those I thought they where part of the puzzle, but now I'm not so sure.
I am thorn between two things:
a) This is some kind of mechanism they jerry-rigged so the pillar animation would work.
b) This is an important part of the puzzle.

My problem with option "a" is that FDev has been very careful with their puzzles, I don't think they would leave something like this in the game, especially because its so easy to find.

And for option "b" there are some (very tenuous) visual clues that point to it being a part of the puzzle. Every time the relic spawns they have the same orientation (even when we drop them from the SRV) and inside every relic there is a little "eye" orb that points down, towards the spinning platforms (each pillar has those spinning things). Also the platforms only start spinning after the pillar comes out fo the ground.

Would be nice if we could get someone from Frontier to tell us if that is just a "support" for some weird spaghetti code they used or if it is actually a part of the puzzle.

Sorry for rocking the boat here.

But has anyone thought that the immediate thing you come across in a Mechanical/ Electronic / Unicorn powered base is a STATUS UPDATE?
When we look at the stones - Im presuming they tell us what is missing!

There are 3 Symbols. Therefore 3 main parts to the base. All of them are missing the centre section.

Go figure. They are underpowered. So HOW THE HELL do we power them?

We need to:

A: Find the 3 relevant or all encompassing sections of the base. Then we need to juice them. GET YER RULERS OUT!

B: Eat Cookies.

I've been flying around 3A for an hour now trying to line the stars up per the above, and while I can get them very close, they aren't lining up like I think they should. I'm beginning to think it might be a different moon in the system. The star pattern under the red arrow above, it looks more like a system of moons around a gas giant to me. Nothing like that is visible from 3A, I'm thinking this video was taken from a far out moon around one of the giants with several moons around them instead.

Exactly what I was thinking. Based on FD's past updates, they implement new content in one of three ways: hand-crafted, procedural, or copy/paste. Because of the fine level of detail in the site you found, it seems to me that this would be a hand crafted location. This isn't to say that there can't be a couple more locations that were also hand crafted in a similar fashion, there very well may be, but I think that the sites shown in the two videos are far too similar to be different hand crafted sites.

Still, just as with the barnacles, these sites provide sources of what seem to be engineering materials. And again, just as the case was with the barnacles, FD provided multiple locations in the galaxy to retrieve these materials. So it does seem reasonable to say that there could be more ancient sites, even if they are just copy/pasted in multiple systems as the barnacles seemed to be. And along those lines, yeah, the Col 173 Sector KY-Q d5-47 system is probably a good starting point. Unless they moved the site from Col to Synuefe, haha.

I'm still on the side of it being a glitch. Some rogue bit of geometry parented to the animated rotating bits on top of the pillars.

The pillars are definately glitchey at times, I've seen the top part spawn some distance away from the column geometry, floating mid air etc...

I can't believe that FD would require us to use an immersion breaking external camera issue (clipping through the ground) to solve a puzzle, especially one that otherwise seems quite well constructed. It would feel a bit clumsy to me if it was part of the solution.

I would love to be proven wrong though...

As a follow on - We need to figure out what is the power source. Is it the pyramids or rings?

I would go for the pyramids - simply because anything OUTSIDE the base has less complexity.

Quick favour to ask, I was checking systems in the pleiades and pleione a system I know I have visited came up as unexplored with no system data. Can people who have visited the system check to see if this is the same for them and its not a case of me getting killed before selling exploration data.

If this is a common issue it suggests fdev may have altered something in pleione and as such makes it worth further investigation

Fine for me, I can even view the planet surfaces in the system map too.

I was only on-site for a little while, but I noticed that the obelisks beacons don't retract when the relics have been removed. So maybe they are at least a part of the power source?
