Things deteriorate a lot faster on airless worlds exposed to radiation...I think these ruins are actually a lot more recent than most people are probably thinking.

Unfortunately i didn't have video recording, and its not easy to see from this image.

Basically, i had 1 of each type of artifact in my hold, and was hovering over the circular "landing pad" when i started getting white fleks all around my ship (you can see some in the image). I tried to look around but didn't see anything, and it stopped. I tried to recreate the conditions, but it didn't happen again.

I started to think maybe something can be activated here somehow. Tried dropping all 5 items on the landing pad area, but nothing happened.

Then i tried to put myself in the mind of Mike Brookes, but all i could think was "What a sexy beard I have", so that was a useless exercise.

Anyway, something strange went down and i have no idea what or why. Perhaps others can see if they can give it a go, see if they can reproduce.

By the way, was in solo. Nobody else could have caused those flecks, and it wasn't chaff, 100%.

Otherwise, ill try again tomorrow.

An idea i have is 5 different objects. I'd bet they are needed together. What else needs doing? Maybe all beacons need scanning then taking all the artifacts to the center "landing pad" area.

Something to try anyway.

I'd say you popped a chaff by the look of it.

Edit: Damn I'm slow. I'm reading several pages of this thread at once. That's why.

Hmmm maybe but i have my 32 slot cargo bay full of them and nothing happened to me after about 9 hours game time so doubt it

So now the question becomes, what exactly did Agony_Aunt do to compel these ancient spirits of this burial site to randomly deploy his chaff? Maybe he ticked them off stealing all of those sacred items? More tests are needed...but I sure hope his ship isn't permanently haunted now.

Yeah, probably a glitch in the matrix. Sorry for the false alarm guys.

I'm fairly convinced though the one with the fine beard didn't put these things here with no use. He'd have to be mad or a sadist to do that.... hmm... ok, let's leave those options open, but for the moment presume he isn't. 5 items to collect, and yeah, its some sort of machine. Something needs activating somehow.

My theory anyway.

It looks to me like all the triangular prisms are in prinsipal the same object. Any one of the black pieces could also ligth up.

not sure about your facts. radiation mostly will kill electronics over time. things we put on the moon will be there long after human go extinct.

I might as well continue with what I'm doing instead of reseting to try yours, at this point I think.

I was trying a similar thing and you are one step ahead of me in some areas, lets me save some time

. I did check monoliths/towers in a bit of a sequence, I activated 4, checked, activated 3,checked, activated 1, checked, and then activated 2, and checked. Nada.

A thought though, where we find the ancient totems/tablets/etc has a blue area under it. Mykl had mentioned he thought it could be something like battery acid that leaked from them. That blue glowing area is only active when the SRV is close by however. Perhaps pressure plates of some variety? I'll attempt to study them next in hopes we can stumble across something.

I cannot help wondering if it's just something like the interactions are resulting in more columns appearing.

I mean it's odd that there are multiple columns lit in open. I would have thought all open obelisks would be inactive due to them being scanned. Do they reset after a while? Maybe into another state?

Did you bring an UA or UP?
They often trigger chaff deploment when they do damage.

What is the healt % of you chaff launcer?
