Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

In the old classic space exploration game "Star flight" you could find an artifact called the dodecahedron. It's purpose was to attract more alien ships to you.

Probably pointless info, but Starlight was a hell of a game. Perhaps a tribute item from the Devs? Or maybe not.

To everyone questioning the floating materials post, I want to add that I've been exploring the Actaea planet in the Sol system, and I've had the same experience. When I blast outcrops, they fly upwards of 40m in the air and don't fall back down. I was thinking that could be because the planet is so small (the game actually says it's 0.0000 earth masses and is 0.00G), but hey, there definitely should be some sort of gravity that would slowly cause the objects to fall back to the surface... maybe it's a bug. I was going to add something else that pointed to this being a bug, but I've had a long day and I'm too tired to remember lol. I'll update this message if I remember

We should make one big combined post with all the patterns we are working with so far. When we see all the things we got: triangle patterns, nonograms, map over the site etc etc ... someone will eventually lit a bulb.

This is what I and some others have been doing on the Canonn #chat_science Discord channel. We have a Trello board going and have currently been working on double-checking the numbers beacons we know about to make sure that the nonogram data is accurate. Because frankly, trying to put these things together on a forum thread requires a herculean effort just to keep up-to-date. There's a reason this thing has been nicknamed "the threadnaught". ;)

If anyone more in the know would be willing to come onto the Discord channel and edify all of us on the current goings-on, we could get a better picture of how things stand at the moment.

Found a Listening post in space while exploring - randomly - got some data referenced 2 other listening posts, gave an approx range and a longitude. Is there somewhere where this stuff is collated? Where can I give details?

Come to Canonn's Discord server, and join us on #chat_science if you may, and we can add it to the pot of things.

Velli 6 Message:

Beacon was previouly decoded as "ENIGMAS"

Outpost in that system had a galnet message that was had the following cipher text: "VAOOC - QCSFTAFGGFUOTPBKAJASFTCPB - QOFBAT 7 - UBTLSAFTABCBD"

Using the Keyed Caesar the decoded text read: "VELLI - PIRATEASSAULTONFEDERATION - PLANET 7 - UNTHREATENING"

Well there is a velli, planet 6 is the gas giant outposts off the moon, planet 7 is the last one a non landable but it is there - another spot to investigate perhaps ( or the outpost)

I am at the site, and I am not sure if it's a bug or intentional; but you know those "log gravity warnings" we get? Well, it looks like the site itself affects gravity!
I went a few km out and looked around, and I found a few outcrops that I thought I'd harvest. Within about 2km from the site, the materials seem to float up and towards the site, and they never fall back down. Outside of 2km they behave normally!

Can someone please double-check this, to make sure I am not just experiencing some instance bug? Thanks!

EDIT: I cannot get it to replicate, and another CMDR who tried reported "all systems normal", so I think I may have experienced a bug. Will keep checking the surrounding area.

When I was there I bumped one of the object up into the "air"....it stayed there..about 35 meters up....and stayed there a loooong time...so long that when I finally decided to fly off I could have scooped it with my ship if the hold hadn't been full already
so yeah...think there might be gravity issues at play

Around the last planet is a POI in space called "PIRATES ATTACKING FEDERATION"

If you enter it it seems that there is a disabled federal ferragut with the pirate ferragut joining in eventually. I guess this is similar to a Threat level 4 distress beacon poi? However, maybe something happens if you help the pirates or the feds? I dunno, I'm just in a lowly asp.

There's some weird language in these decoded messages. "Unthreatening", "Daring", "Provocation"....starting to wonder if it means anything.

Nonetheless a good find. Never seen a pirate capital ship before.

Before I forget, at what distance was this PoI visible from? 1000ly or very close?

Takurua
Play
1. (personal noun) Sirius, the Dog Star - one of the brightest stars in the sky and found in Kāhui Takurua (Canis Major).

hi..maybe relevant......Takurua was obviously a Maori name to me....and look...Sirius, so much like a lot of other hints

I just caught up on this thread... [wacky] [alien] I need a cup of tea and a Valium.

EDIT: Just want to confirm, we're still going to war with these Bugs when we find them right? *cocks shotgun

Sitting here at the Unregistered Comms Beacon at Takurua 3. It's pulsing some rhythmically. Can't scan it really. No name or identification. The lights on it are blinking in a defined, unchanged pattern (blue in back and red in back and sides). The only thing peculiar about it is the triangle-shaped stuff in the front dome of it which reminds me of the Synuefe ruins' site.

Checked out the Anomolous signal at 1. Saw the same thing as a previous poster; ships are about 7k out then poof, gone. Just see the jetwash trail of their thrusters. Nothing left anywhere.

It was a test. I tried to get closer to furtively, before they disappear again. There were 3 attempts. After I had no more signs on the radar and not in my view.

OK, fair enough, you had me really wondering what the heck you were doing, I now understand. Thanks for the clarification, CMDR.

so the satelites, carrier signals and trail of code are leading us somewhere, perhaps everyone was focused on code, but the sirius corporation probes seem to be leading us somewhere

Just to save you or anyone else time, takurua beacon gives a code that points towards the signal at the planet. "Daring" is also in the message which stands out to me as it doesn't seem to mean anything obvious. Maybe you need balls to follow the escaped prisoners through whatever it is they are going in to?

i wonder if takurua 1 is bugged ? velli is another one, im on my way to interact with the pirate site ( and potential loot) seems to be the best bet atm, sothis and algamest were clear of any anamolous <1000ly from planetary body searches. theres a nebula about 220ly away leb or something 2 systems nothing of note so velli is next stop pending other information sources that may come up

the station is called foothold orbital, are there any "daring" stations anywhere ?
