All things Frontier Developments at E3 2014!

It's a "research" outpost.

Translation: It's a skunk works system where developers can test out their ships/stations/gameplay/other ideas and it's so far away from human space so that it'll effectively remain "off-limits" to alpha/beta backers no matter how large a volume of space is opened up during testing.

Now that's a challenge right there

this game will be so nice !

i hope diversity will be there as announced back then.

i like how DB is ambitious and such.

to have variants of the same ship will be nice made by PG,

variants of stations too by PG,

the ability to visit planets ( while this was announced as an expansion so dont bother for now really ).

and feeling the galaxy to be alive from the governments , npcs , missions, lores, etc.

lets go FRontier ! :D

And many have ended up as burnt toast...

Now that would be an awesome thing. As you step out of your shiny ship onto the hangar floor a couple of NPC dock workers walk past. One says to the other "The supervisor really hates me. He's put me on the toast rack team again! Nothing but clearing up burnt toast for the next 4 days". Roll on leaving ships

For some reason, I'd like it if there was a system which was 1980s Elite-era UK fast forwarded 1300 years. the NPC dock workers would be on strike, everyone would complain about the heavy handed tactics of the police against the ore miners, Amstrad would be desirable electronics, Channel 4 would be an elitist cultural News Feed outlet and a military junta would have invaded the Falkland moons. And picture the NPC mugshots in the missions UI.

Can someone tell me if the Hyperjump effect is physical based or just a pre-rendered/scripted effect?

What does physical based mean? well are those stars and nebulas he zooms by a REAL thing or are they simply just a script generating random stuff to fill in the hyperspace travel.

If its physical based you should see variation depending from starting point to destination, so no two jumps are the same!

Pre-rendered and a placeholder atm.

It's not pre-rendered...it is still WIP though and there are plans to make the jumps reflect how you are moving through space.

You travelling through a different spatial dimension, gravity exists there, in fact more so than the regular three spatial dimensions.

Some indication of locality for the jumps is planned, although the term jump is a bit of a misnomer in that you're not jumping anywhere it's simply a much faster version of the frame shift drive used for supercruise.

And it's not pre-rendered, it's in game rendered.

The gamespot interview was pretty good.

Adam was a bit cheeky there with his roll inside the docking tube! (twice!)

Also shame on you Adam.. ships are "she" not "he". :D

Great seeing the guys on Gamespot. That ship on fire was awesome.

Can we recreate that off the shoulder of Orion? ;)

Yup. We, backers, didn't learn much since David just said what we were told ... from the beginning really.

Which means FD is one of the few (the only one ?) gaming company speaking the truth and not selling vapourish dreams at the E3.

Granted, this will perhaps make less money, but this makes me loving the game even more. So, kudos to David : your product is good enough to be honestly sold *even there*.

Now please jump in the next airplane and go back to work so I can play and explore pretty please. And take Adam with you, he had it too good for too long in California, time to get back to work *whip sound* :D

Big game hunting dinosaurs after landing on a planet was new to me. Which expansion is that planned in?

Edit: is it us or the dinosaurs that are hunting? We'll have to wait for the expansion to find out I guess :D
