All things Frontier Developments at E3 2014!

He actually talked about big game hunting down on planets even back during the KS. ;)

He didn't mention dinosaurs though :)

He didn't mention dinosaurs though :)

Here you go:

We have planets in it – you can fly your spaceship down to the surface, get out, walk around, get back in and fly off. That will come. We will do it properly with time, it just won't be there on day one. There is so much game even without that, it's untrue. And when that comes, there will be even more game!

People want everything! They want to be able to hunt dinosaurs in the wild, and see alien creatures flying around on Jupiter. It's a big job – and I would rather we do it properly, gradually, than do it all on day one. Because day one wouldn't come!

:D

Thanks for this Tinman, just got in from work and would have missed this.

+1

David and Adam did a fine job there, and it is refreshing to hear a developer talk about features in an as yet released game that I KNOW actually exist, and not flannel.

Looking forward to the next release, but man, you guys deserve a few days off to relax after this week, and I include the team still back at base.

Excellent job this week FD, really well done.

:)

Still, since the animation is always the same (except the exit point) you get the the feeling that it is pre-rendered.

It's in engine rendered. The size of a pre-rendered movie that supported head look and 3D would be... large!

(hmm I know an slightly off topic response, mod's forgive me ;-) )

I hate you now... :D

Some say Tin Man went to the galaxy core and returned twice in Elite on his old Spectrum. Or was it an Atari ?

Some say Tin Man knows E: D's future : he supposedly went to 2093 and played the game there in a virtual clone.

Some say Tin Man once drank Chuck Norris blood under the full moon.

Some say Tin Man is David Braben himself.

As for me, I'd just say this : don't mess with this guy my friend, you never know what obscure old strange youtube vid he'll come with :D

I've heard David talking about the ''federal cutter''...
what is that ?

it's never been mentioned before or i miss it ?

I loved hear David talking about the importance of our Ranks, the secret missions and exclusive faction ships...

I loved the slight look of panic when they said to switch to the desktop. I noticed that play started from the space station again. I guess the alt + tab bug hasn't been solved yet.

Great video though, lots of interesting nuggets.

I was thinking exactly the same thing at the time Jimmy lol :D

He explains what it is seconds after naming it, "a big big ship that you can only buy with high federation rep". There is an Imperial one as well.

Game trailers have some off screen cam footage with DB commentating

http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/cy8p22/elite--dangerous-e3-2014--walkthrough--cam-

I just finished watching this after I posted it. The first part is similar to the previous demonstration but wait for the Orbis Station bit, this time they fly around the outside and DB talks about how the planet positions in that system have changed while they've been demonstrating it at E3.

He also says "we are on track for a commercial release at the end of the year"

The graphics look a bit prettier in that build, it's hard to tell because of the compression though.

Hyperspace is certainly different. Looks a lot more "wooshy", there's more sense of movement.
