Hardware & Technical XBOX One Elite Controller

For 150€ I'd prefer a mid range HOTAS or even 2 t.16000m, if Elite was your only reason for buying this.
I thought about that, but I really enjoy playing Elite with a controller ^^
I love relaxing on my coach, in front of 50 inch telly and playing with wireless controller, to me its just so chill.
And I feel like there are some maneuvers that I am able to perform better on the controller as oppose to a keyboard for example.
Which is a bit weird, because I never owned a console in my life (except for SEGA, SN , etc) and always was a PC gamer, but for ED I do love the XBOX One wireless

I use it with Elite, but I'm an Xbox CMDR. I'll tell you now, the back paddles are not able to be their own buttons, they can only be remapped to one of the other buttons.
The paddles are great for throttle control, though

Im running out of button sort of on my controller, and I prefer shoulder buttons for throttle control, I thought I could use those paddles for latteral thrust
Yeah unfortunatly no extra buttons with the Elite controller. Its stupid, which is why I at first didn't wanna buy it but the pedals are in a really good position so I I bought it anyway. And I don't regret it, its great playing Elite with that controller and its just all in all the best controller I ever used.Wait what ?

Can't map an axis to buttons, can't even do any jiggery pokery with the controls settings in Elite to make it happen.
I use an Elite controller, on PC, and as Jesus says, there are no extra buttons, just extensions to existing buttons.
Saying that i still dont find myself requiring any more buttons, still a number on the alternate D-pad bindings unused. And I don't use a separate keyboard as i got this plugged into the elite controller...

I have an Elite controller, I mainly use it with FPS games and racing games (I'm not not serious enough for a wheel/pedal setup) on my Xbox One. And Assetto Corsa on PC.
With regard to ED, I only use it for driving an SRV (I'll switch from my HOTAS). That said, it's an excellent controller. The build quality is fantastic - it feels great, very solid, if not a little heavy. The triggers have a short throw switch to lessen the travel (great for FPS games) and the paddles have a very positive, short throw as well (great for racing games - I use them as the clutch and shift up/down buttons). The twin sticks are quite smooth and don't have any ghost movement either.
Keep in mind you can only remap the paddles to existing buttons (such as the A or B buttons). If you're okay with that, I'd highly recommend it if you can spare the $ or €.

Sorry my friend, I have no idea what that is... Xbox CMDR here lol. It is possible that as a PC player you have more options. For instance the chat pad does give you access to the full set of key bindings, i believe, whereas it does not for us on Xbox.

No, you can only remap buttons to the paddles - not the sticks. You can swap the sticks, invert their axis, and edit sensitivity, but that's it.
I use this exact setup on my Xbox One. Awesome.
you have to assign it to a firegroup just like weapons, there is no mininglaser hotkey. Tough I wonder, mininglaser on a Eagle?

I'm using standard XBOX one wireless controller on my PC machine for ED, but those back paddles would be so OP in ED for latteral trust etc

Yes, I'm using the Elite Controller. Works great. I mapped the head-look and Alternate Flight mode to the 2 rear paddles. That works so much smoother than having to press the thumb-sticks. I highly recommend it.
